Safety is the ultimate feature in a vehicle.

This was obviously a mostly head on high-speed accident. The fact that even the glass on the right side of the 5-series is intact and intrusion into the driver space is minimal is amazing.

Note to self: Stop complaining that my G87 is 3,800lbs.

Here you see the crash test results of the Skoda Fabia. It's a small city car weighting ~40% of what the i5 does.

The driver would have stand a much better chance when he was in a latest gen (Mk4), instead of in the Mk1 version.

No mistery this little old car got obliterated entirely in this unequal fight.
RIP, so sad this still happens in 2024!

A crash like that on a Landstrasse.

I can guess what was going on.

Life's too short to do stupid shit.

I'd say that the delta in speed is easily 100mph to come to such a devastation of the 5 series (against a little old Skoda Fabia which almost entirely desintegrated). Even the 5 driver needed luck to survive this.

Notice the right wing ripped off, this led to a massive jet fuel spill that had to be cleaned up before the road could be re-opened.
Not Jet fuel. Small aircraft like that use 100LL AVGAS. Slight differences from pump gas to accommodate using it at high altitudes and extremely cold conditions.

Did a few lessons on a Cessna a long time ago. Did not have the time to get all the hours in for my pilots license unfortunately. Guess it is just habit to call it jet fuel having worked on an aircraft carrier as temporary assigned duty for a few months. Still in the end jet fuel just sounds cooler
