Confused about suspension!
Hi all
Currently speccing out a new i5 touring Have it as follows so far I5 touring m sport pro Tech + Comf + Adaptive suspension professional Metallic paint Sun protection glass I cannot seem to find any concrete information on the following 1. What is the standard suspension on the i5 touring - is it springs or is it standard air suspension on all 4 corners? 2. The adaptive suspension pro - what does this add? The configurator seems to suggest it simply lowers the car by 5mm? Any pointers appreciated I finally have the monthly price where I want it from the dealer and these are the last few queries I had Many thanks |

It's a good question. Adaptive suspension pro should add rear wheel steering. Whether it adds anti-roll stabilization as well is an open question. It may on some models and others maybe not. You need to ask whether it adds anti-roll. I think the version that adds anti-roll is Adaptive M Suspension Pro. I think it's about $1,000 more than the $3,000 option for 2VV here in Canada.
Hope that helps. I find the rear wheel steering very beneficial.

In Canada Adaptive M Suspension Pro is available on the M60 but not the 550e from what I understand. The 550e is "toned down" from the M60.

Touring like sedan always has rear wheel air suspension.
Pro suspension adds : -Rear wheel steering to improve turning the ship around - Adaptive setting of different modes on the suspension (sport/comfy) and I think also real time adjustments depending on the surface. hth |

What I'm not sure of is the comfort aspect
My main focus is comfort over having a super stiff setup Currently my spec is looking like I5 edrive40 m sport pro Comfort plus Technology plus Panoramic roof Sun protection Rear sun blinds I'm torn about adding the adaptive suspension on as i really don't want the stiffer ride. Comfort over all for me |
