Assisted driving question

While driving at a speed above posted speed limit I engage in assisted driving and the car slows down to posted speed limit. I don't remember this happening in the past. Is it supposed to do that or am I missing a setting change somewhere.
Was coming home from Eastern Long Island on Sunrise Hgwy and the traffic was light for a change so I engaged in the AD while doing 75 and the car quickly slowed down to 55. Guy behind me wasn't so happy but I quickly took over and tried again. Same thing happened, this time I used the controls on wheel to speed up and it maintained that speed. I disengaged it after a while and re engaged. The same thing happened again, the vehicle slowed down to 55.

Again any help or insight is appreciated.

What button did you hit to engage it? I think if you hit the Set button it might do that, or maybe if you hit the On button it will do that. Try turning it on with the other button to see if it happens all the time. If it does, then maybe it's a new "feature" with the update. Hmmm.

There’s a section in the manual under “speed limit assistant”. It can be set to auto, manual or off I believe. You can also set an offset if you want to automatically go over the posted speed limit by some amount. Most systems I looked at have something like this now, somtimes a straight up offset in mph, or alternatively sometimes a percentage.

Yes, your settings on speed limit assistant may have changed. I'd check those.

Yeah....I will probably leave Speed Limit assistant off. Or set it to 9MPH over the posted limit.

I set my car to bong when I hit 80 MPH or more. For me, if I'm doing 80, I'm going too fast. I try not to exceed 75 MPH when on the freeway. Is that what speed limit assist is? I'm not sure what all those speed settings are for in the car other than to warn me when I'm going too fast.

I'm pretty sure I read where if you have speed limit assist ON and the car knows the speed limit, if you hit the SET button on the steering wheel it automatically sets the cruise control to the speed limit. If you have it in Manual, you can tell it what speed to set it to not exceed, and if you turn it off, you can set it where you want. What you are describing is more of the speed warning. I think it's part of the same menu, but the alert part not the speed setting part.

That sounds familiar, thanks. I'll have to double check my settings and try it out.

Yes, and you can also set a differential so hitting "set" will set the cruise to speed limit +5 mph, for example. I believe there are two "tiers" of differentials as well so you can set a higher differential for higher speeds.
