Staggered rim sizes
On 5 series with staggered tires, are all four rims the same size?

550e Ordering guide shows 20 x 8.5 (Front) and 20 x10 (Rear) or 21 x 8.5 (Front) and 21 x 9.5 (Rear). There is no difference in rim width for the 2 20in options.

The name "Staggered" implies they are NOT the same size. They are all 20" or 21", but the rear rims/tires are wider. A staggered wheel set up is designed to reduce oversteer by removing front grip and adding it to the back. A understeering car (pushing) is easier to control than one that oversteers (loose). You cannot rotate the tires as they are both different widths, and directional. But since the vehicle is AWD, you will find they wear at roughly the same rate.

Per Discount Tire website, staggered fitment means tires are different and in many cases the wheels also.
Thus why I asked if the rims are different on a BMW. Thank you for the information. |

No. I saw a set of forged 21” rims identical to the BMWs but they were all the same so was wondering if the rims on the car were.
