Plug and Go Charging email from BMW

I received an email yesterday from BMW USA. Anyone else see this?
I have been waiting for charging w/out using the app. My Ford Mach-e is truly plug and charge. I am hoping my dealer is 'in the loop' on this update.

"Plug & Charge is an easy and secure way to charge your BMW i5. Simply plug in and go — without app or charger interaction. It automates communicating and billing with Electrify America public charging stations for a frictionless charging experience.

Your BMW i5 is now eligible for the Plug & Charge feature. To get started, bring your vehicle to your local BMW Center for the complimentary Plug & Charge software upgrade."

I've been using plug and go since I got the i5 in Feb. I think it works for Electrify America and Shell Recharge but I've only tried it on EA.

I am in South FL. I use EA exclusively for the free 2 year charging. I have never had plug and charge work...meaning I must use the BMW app to open and select the Charge Here and select the charge station ID. First time I charged I called EA b/c I was so used to the Ford being truly plug in and charge and could not get BMW to charge. I was told Plug and Charge was coming..for now use app to select Charge Here and station number, that has worked fine but I would prefer to just plug in and not use phone app

I have also used it once in the Los Angeles area on Electrify America with no issue. The "genius" set it up in my car when I took delivery in March 2024 and it worked perfectly when I tried it. Just plug it in, and it starts charging with Electrify America. Maybe your car needs an update or for it to be set up somehow?

Can't find where it is in the MyBMW app, but Plug and Charge didn't work for me until I enabled it in the app, even though I had the contract in the app.

Do you have the plug and charge contract showing in the car (and toggled on) in the charging menu in iDrive? You shouldn't need a software upgrade in general on the i5. It comes with P&C by default.

Yeah, I couldn't find it in the app because I probably did it in the car.

Plug and Charge is not enabled through the app but rather through toggling in on via iDrive in the car. The app, however, is where you need to setup your free EA charging.

EA plug and charge has worked for me from day one flawless. No clue why they would be saying it is now available.

I am OP...I can confirm plug and charge is now working for me. Apparently b/c I was a early M60 delivered, this was not activated. I tested yesterday at EA and it is working properly
