I am at the Electrify Expo car show and saw an X5 in frozen marina bay blue. Prettiest color I have ever seen. I would pay extra for that.

Some videos from a nearby dealer show an X3 with and Individual color and it shows $1300 on the window sticker for the color. Seems strange, because I would have thought there’s more surface area to paint on a truck than a sedan.

I’m thinking of a purple 540.
It used to be $7500 so any price less would be nice. |

Perhaps it depends on the color you choose. I think some colors are made up of 3 different paints and those probably cost more.

My dealer says on individual color adds 10-12 weeks to deliver on top of normal time.
Is this correct? That means an October 2024 build would be delivered in March/April 2025. |

I placed my order start of August and have a late October build week as of now. We will see how that evolves.

You’ve got far more patience than I do. It will be 5 months or more from order to delivery, or almost half a model year.

Just FYI, I was told that if you are a BMW owner you can order any color ever made for $7500.

That is a premium I’d consider to keep Estoril Blue.

Maybe the massive app $4/5k price difference for individual colours is due to costs incurred and time lost changing production for a very limited spec rather than a normal extended spell of 'standard' paint jobs like carbon black etc running through the paint shop

Indvidual colors are painted elsewhere from the standard paints and thus require extra time for shipping and handling as well as the paint itself.

I don’t know. I don’t think you can have ANY color anymore. I believe you used to be able to pay a high fee when BMW Individual actual did provide custom services, but now it’s just an extended parts list. I remember people getting Estoril even though it wasn’t offered any more, as well as colors from exotic Italian makes.
Even $5k isn’t that much for an extended color pallatte. Porsche charges $13k for the extended color choices, and $30k to develop a paint to order, like from a piece of some material. As always, production time is affected and in reality, noone can give you a reliable estimate of how much extra time it will take, just like no estimate about when your car will arrive has anything to do with reality. |
