Discounts on a 2025 540 order?

One dealer was 1.5%, four others MSRP.

Anyone found a dealer doing more?

Pre-covid could get much much larger discounts.

I ordered in June and got 7% off MRSP. Depending on your location, consider going through a broker, if the dealers won’t budge.

Second this. You can order 540s through brokers for ~10% off msrp before incentives. You or dealer can arrange shipping if needed.

The problem is I have a trade and will get sales tax credit. I figure 5% discount equals the 10% off with a broker.

Prior to covid easily got 7-9% at local dealer. Not any more. They seem to think there is still a car shortage.

You can trade in a car with the brokers dealer too and get the same tax credit. Just view broker as an introducing agent. Once you pay their broker fee you basically are connected to their dealer at the agreed upon discount. From there is the same old car leasing / purchasing process.

Maybe the brokers dealer will give you a little less than your dealer. Won’t know until you ask,, but I can pretty much guarantee if you’re dealer is 1% off - the combined deal with broker including your trade in will still be multiple thousands better. I mean they have about 7k head start..

Are you in Washington state? I'll admit that makes it harder, but not impossible. It's such an isolated market that dealerships there think they are gold. I've had a lot of clients over the years ship cars there because they still save a ton of money, even after shipping across the country.

All that being said, 540s are a little scarce due to a cut in production. I've seen waiting lists at some dealerships. We are discounting them about 6% right now though. 10% isn't happening on a 540 these days.

Cut production? Why so?

They've cut production of a lot of models and also stopped subsidizing them as much. There never used to be a wait list for something like a 540, but I've seen them at several dealerships for 2025s, for instance.

They have probably cut production because of the stop sale. Parts need to be distributed to fix vehicles affected by the stop sale so they can be delivered and/or sold. The 540iX was delayed in coming out for 2024. Probably because they wanted to push the I5's out to establish them as the primary 5 series electric platform to compete with the likes of Tesla. And the 520/530 was the cheaper option if you could not afford an I5, or refused to go BEV. So if you wanted the equivalent of a 540 in power, you HAD no real option but to go BEV with the I5 if you wanted a Bimmer 5er. The 540 was delayed for to establish that foothold in the market I think. So now, due to the Stop Sale there aren't a lot of them available, or they are stuck at dealers or in transit unable to be sold. The 2025 540iX allotments are probably mostly going to be custom orders due to the lack of inventory on the market for 2024's. So there are not a lot of them left available. Hence the wait list. it wouldn't surprise me if some unscrupulous dealers start charging premiums over MSRP for a 540iX soon.

The lack of 5 series started long before the stop sale, unfortunately. There just haven't been a lot of allocations. It's not a major seller, but even for 2024 with it being a new model, they should have had better availability. The push was definitely for the i5 and some of them, particularly i5 eDr40s, are sitting in markets where people want AWD/xDrive.
