2025 550e 2VV (Suspension) and 4NB (4 zone Climate) for US

If anyone is willing to share a copy of their production sheet (or something similar) showing 1 or both of the above codes 2VV or 4NB it would be greatly appreciated. My CA insists they aren't options he can add for my US spec 550e. Trying to figure out a method to help root this out.......

Your CA is correct. He cannot add them to your build. It requires authorization by BMW NA to get non-market conforming packages added to your build. He'll need to reach out to the dealership's BMW NA area representative and make a request. Keep in mind, they are well within their right to say "No."

Disclaimer - Speculation Below

I have no idea, if the number of special requests per area are limited. If that were the case, the Area Rep might be saving their variants for people purchasing more expensive vehicles (e.g. a BMW XM selling for $190,000 that the buyer wants 'X'). Best of luck in your endeavors!

True, my CA had to reach out to a regional rep to have the options added.

I wish mine had been able to do that. As a broker working directly for BMW AG, his inquiry for 4NB was returned with "Option requested is not available for US SPEC 540iX vehicles sold directly via the Military Sales program. Vehicles required to conform to US Specifications and options as listed on current pricing guide for 2025 5 Series (G60 ICE) Effective May 14, 2024."

Thank you aherman18. Here is the latest from my CA. If others have orders they can share it would be helpful as there still seems to be some confusion and I’d like to provide as much data as possible.

“I just sat in on a conference call with BMW regional and they're happy to consider the addition of 4-Zone climate control via an Individual Request form direct to BMW..

I'll start action on this as soon as I get it. Curiously they're not showing any availability of Adaptive Suspension Professional. It would have surprised me as that would, of necessity, have required quite a few changes to the chassis. ”

Thoughts?

4NB is available through BMW individual. Added to several i5 M60s. It's an option in Canada and is easily added through a request. Your CA needs the wholesale and MSRP of 4NB for the request ($600/$650). It won't delay the order either.

Not sure on the adaptive suspension pro, but your CA would need the wholesale/MSRP for it. They can ask and get the pricing from their area rep.

My CA emailed his BMW NA rep and asked for the Adaptive Suspension Pro-2VV and it was added along with the other items. Note that this suspension is available on the Canadian cars - that is how I discovered the option.

We did find out that the adaptive M suspension was NOT available - the one with the roll stabilization.

Hope that helps.

So it isn’t this based on your comment?
https://faq.bmwusa.com/s/article/FAQ...language=en_US

And if it isn’t the above then what exactly is the option you are adding?

Interesting that those options are not readily available, in a much bigger market than here in Canada. That doesn’t make sense. These options are specific add-ons here. I have adaptive suspension pro on my current M550 and I think it’s worth it.

There is a difference between adaptive suspension pro (2vv) and adaptive M suspension. The adaptive M also includes electronic anti roll and I think more available settings.

2VV has integrated rear wheel steering and body roll stabilization, that’s the way it’s described as I understand it.

I gather there are various suspension types:
1. adaptive suspension
2. adaptive suspension professional (2VV?)
3. adaptive M suspension professional (2VW?)
4. adaptive M suspension (looks like something you can purchase from the connectedstore, i.e. a software upgrade)?

then there is (a) integral active steering and (b) active roll stabilisation (sway bars).

Does anyone have a clear idea how they are different?

In Canada code 704 M Sport Suspension is standard on the 550e.

Then you are able to add 2VV which is Adaptive Suspension Professional and that includes integral active 4 wheel steering for $3,000. Adaptive gives you the choices between comfort and sport modes.

In addition you can add the M Sport Pro package which adds M Sport Brakes and Launch control in addition to other specific contents which are not disclosed in detail. Cost is $1,500.

It would be interesting to see if you can purchase Adaptive M as a software upgrade with option 704.

I don't have my production sheet yet but I'll share what the CA and financial manager at my dealer learned:

You need to ask your CA to see if 2VV and 4NB are available for the 550e under the BMW Individual program. I know 4NB is because I just had them do the legwork to figure that out for a 540i. Essentially anything that can be added to your model somewhere globally could be added via BMW Individual.

The dealer places an order for your build code save the special order items then they put in a request for BMW to amend the order adding the codes you requested. It will probably take a bit longer for you to get a production number than with a "normal" BTO for your country because there is a bit more legwork in the process.

My CAs both have been unable to make any traction w/ BMW NA on adding either of these options...At this point I'm at a loss...Here is their latest note. Does anyone want to offer up the name of their CA that successfully navigated this labyrinth so that my CAs can understand what needs to happen?

"We're now sure, after multiple unanswered requests for info, that those options are not available on 5 Series for the US. We do realize that some Internet sources claim otherwise, but we have no BMW source for it, and no way of adding them to a BMW Build.

Please let us know your thoughts."

Well Mr. Salesman, here are my unsolicited thoughts. When I purchased my ‘19 540MSport with the 704 suspension I swore I’d never get another BMW without a suspension that was adaptive. I’ve been waiting patiently for the 550e arrival, but no longer. Maybe BMWUSA will come to their senses next year.

All of the videos I have seen for the 550e, applaud the handling of the car despite its size and weight gain. But they were all equipped with 2VV. I have this option in my M550 and it makes a noticeable difference in the car's responsiveness. It is a big disadvantage if the car cannot be delivered with this option.

From what I understand, Mercedes does offer a similar option to their new E class sedan.

I'm so interested in this. How likely is it that we can order with 2vv for US delivery? Secondly, how much weight does it add to the car? Anyone know?
