All you need to do is removed 5AP. The next update takes care of the rest and seems to apply or enable all the coding to allow the headlights to work as designed based on 5AP not being in the VO.

ok good to know, thank you.

Last night I watched an aged video (4 year old video) not only mentioning removing 5AP from the VO but also a 8S4 code. Is the 8S4 still something to think about? I know G60 and iDrive 8.5 did not exist 4 years ago so just making sure.

Nobody knows. I believe 7/2024 is available via dealers now. OTA updates generally are behind at least a few months based on my experience.

I'm on 3/2024 and waiting for the next OTA myself to see if removing 5AP worked or not

They seem to be every 3 or 4 months and I think it has been a couple months since the last one. So, I'd guess October or November if the pattern holds.

Once 05AP has been unchecked in the FA (using BimmerUtility) and saved and an OTA firmware update happens, is there any indication in the vehicle instrumentation that anti-dazzle is active, or is it just "experiential" when driving?

Btalum -

If you have the highbeams on auto, you’ll see it. Kicks in over 30 mph I think. There are different modes. But you’ll see the car indicate high beams are on when they would be off (car in front of you or headed toward you under right circumstances) and you’ll see the light pattern changing so it is not glaring on the other car.

Airedale -

Earlier in this thread there is a video that demonstrates it better than I can explain it. But it is the full functionality of the headlights where the high beams are engaged more, but with light “tunneling” that avoids blinding vehicles in front of you. Improves your nighttime visibility dramatically—and is just very cool.

MikeElmendorf....one other question for you: does your i5 say "BMW Adaptive LED" on the side of the headlight or, as is the case with mine, "BMW LED"? The video shows the former and it makes me wonder.....

Cool video. My Jaguar always just dimmed both lights when traffic was on-coming. This is awesome.

It says BMW LED. Same on my X5. Doesn't matter; anti-dazzle works on both.

I wonder if I can get the dealer to remove the 5AP? Since the car will be in Spain (Where it's legal).

Airedale - If you’re in Spain, I think anti-dazzle comes enabled. My understand is that 5AP is applied only for US-bound car.

The Spec sheet says no, because it's a US Spec car. It's the same as if you bought it at a dealer in the US.

Ah, well that’s a different story then. In that case, the same would apply for you as US cars here in terms of how to enable it.

I doubt dealer will participation in any such coding.
