Luxury Seating Option - Veganza vs Merino Leather
Finalizing if I am going to order new 540 or purchase an in stock unit that is out of state. I would order a vehicle with Luxury package and Veganza seats. I have test driven that combination and it meets my needs. I don't have any leather options to test drive. The in stock unit has luxury package but with merino leather. So would leather change the comfort of the seat other than the feel of the surface?

Some have said the leather is actually more firm and not as comfortable.
I just think the leather options suck….I hate the two tone and that’s the only option.

I ordered leather. Veganza is their newer vegan leather. Sensatec was awful, but the Veganza seems pretty decent. I’m planning on keeping my car a while so didn’t gamble on a new material.

I went with Veganza (my first non-leather vehicle) and like it quite a bit. Isn't showing any signs of the wrinkles that leather develops and feels great. Completely satisfied with it.

I have the copper/grey merino in my M60 and I have been happy with it thus far. We have sensafin, which I assume is the successor to sensatec and the predecessor to veganza, in my wife's X5 and I really like that as well - to me, the sensafin actually does feel a bit more pliable, but that might change with time. It also does well temp-wise, even in the Texas heat, which was NOT the case with sensatec or the old Dakota leather.
Bottom line for me is that although I am quite happy with my merino, I am confident that I would have been just as happy with veganza. |

Veganza is softer and smoother than real BMW leather in past models. The Merino is beautiful leather.
I am still utterly shocked the iX (even the M60) still has SensaTec. SensaTec is crazy durable, but it looks and feels like cheap, rough vinyl (which it is). I had Veganza in my i5 M60, and almost everyone who saw it commented how soft and lush the "leather" was |

I have Nappa comfort seats in my G30, have sat in Merino seats in an 8GC and have test drove a couple G60 540i's with black veganza. Not much comfort difference to me, but I prefer leather.

Be aware BMW latest fake leather may have a slight odor like crayons and the smell does always not go away.
It is also stickier. |

I’ve experienced neither of these things with Veganza, I’ve not heard others say this on this board before either - where are you hearing that?

Have reviewed a few showroom cars with veganza and what I notice is the lack of smell. You expect something but there is nothing.
The one with leather off corse smells like leather. Veganza is indeed very soft. Also better looking and especially softer than sensatec. And I’ve misjudged sensatec a few times for leather in the past. Just saying.

I had a 530i loaner with 4000 miles on the clock. Veganza, and absolutely no smell. This is a real plus as if it isn't leather, at least you aren't sniffing some sort of chemical mix. Personally, I've ordered the leather. Unfortunately the two tone, which I dislike, but there was no choice. This will probably all change with the LCI in the future.

If you want your Veganza equipped car to smell like leather, or anything else for that matter, like a nice essential oil, there are some scented fragrance oils on the market that can help. Several professional companies make these and offer them in small 1 oz bottles. Buy yourself an air freshener made from a porous ceramic (There are also kits where you can make your own) and infuse it with this oil. refresh it every few months as needed. I have one hanging from my washer stalk and it really works well. Not like those cheap air fresheners you put in your AC vent.

[QUOTE=Scrapula;31403098]That sounds like Sensatec to me, not Veganza.
Oops, it was Sensafin, not Veganza. |
