Ahhhhhh

Welp. Haven’t had an accident in 8 years. Got my i5 in April. Last month had a rock from a dump truck hit the windshield, which was fixed and the company’s insurance took liability. Then today, I got rear-ended and totally messed up my rear end. Unbelievable bad luck.

Sh*t. I am so, so sorry! I really hope parts are available and you will be able to get it fixed quickly. Did the car that hit you have proper insurance, or do you have to go through yours?

Thanks! I’m guessing he’s retired Navy, and we both have USAA, as I’m Active Duty. It will be taken care of. Just frustrating.

Wow, that is bad luck! Sorry to hear about it. I hope things get taken car of as quickly and smoothly as possible. I remember how I felt after my first rock chip, but a rear end collision is a whole other level of damage.

Saw a G60 in the wild yesterday on my way into the base in traffic. I rolled my window down and had a conversation with the guy on my way to work. He loves his I5.

Do you remember which i5 he has? (M60, eDrive40, xDrive40)

Not entirely sure. It was black and I believe it was an edrive40. It wasn't M Sport or anything like that either.

Same here I don’t recall ever being accident in last 15 yrs. But girl backed into me at charging station. Well I rather had it metaled if body person not a sculpture artist shop assured me he is very good. So I asked for pics as progress. They could replace the panel but required removing interior than I would be thinking nothing got reassembled correctly but very happy with the metal work. Here are some pics

Goodness, that is the worst news. I sure hope the baby is ok. Best wishes going your way for your family. Health is so important.

Wait, I just re-read it and you could be talking about your new car being your baby. If so, then you got me!

Car is still in the shop. It’s a BMW Certified Collision Center near me. The shop said they’re still waiting on the rear cover panel to be able to finish. Anybody have to get their car fixed and how long it took? Total damages from getting rear ended was about $20,000.

I am so sorry. Years ago, this kind of repair would have been done in a week!

When our sons i4 got hit last year....the repair took over 4 months

We fought with State Farm the whole time, insisting they total the car....but they paid $40,000 to repair it and we did not have the car for over 4 months. Absurd!!!

Sorry that you're having to deal with this. My G30 and our brand new X5 got wiped out by hail last year and each of them took over 3 months to repair (the X5 LED Sky Lounge roof had to come from Germany). While I am continually in shock over sky-rocketing auto insurance rates, the massive complexity of current luxury cars drives home just how hard they are to work on compared to a car from 10 years ago -- it seems like every single body panel is loaded with sensors at this point.

Damn! My car was $20,000, but still. They say all their waiting on is the rear panel. Plus, I get they are more complicated to work on but you would think they would readily have the items available to not have it last as long.
