Windshield Question

I have a question about the windshield. In the picture below I circled a section of the windshield that has a little drop-shaped mark. Anyone know what that's for? At first, I spent some time trying to wash it off because I thought it was a drip on the inside from washing the glass. I'm glad I didn't damage it!

Funny. I thought the same thing when I first got my car—and was annoyed I couldn’t seen to get to it.

I don’t know what it does, but my guess is that it is part of the antenna system.
