For most people it’s more hassle and not worth all the additional time spent.
Yeah, Normally I get so much enjoyment from pitting one dealer against another. Doing a test drive with one dealer and then when it gets time to sit at the table simply say "So and so at x other dealership offered me this deal at $XX below what you are offering. Can you beat it?" and watching their face fall. They are surprised once I walk out the door when they say, "Sorry but no. Go ahead and take that deal then." A little while later they ALWAYS call offering me a better deal, then take that deal and I go to the other dealer and say the same thing. It may take as much as a week, but I usually get the price I am willing to pay, for the car I want. I also love telling them if they take out a 4 square chart I am walking out. I hand them a slip of paper I have in my pocket with a price I am willing to pay already written on it and tell them that's what I am willing to pay. Out the door! Take it or I walk. I have already researched Market value for my area, Manufacturer kickback, etc. So I know how much they paid for the car, how much the manufacturer will pay them even if they sell at invoice and so on. I already have pre-approved financing, so I have negotiating power in my court. The only time I take their financing is if they offer a better rate than my bank. (Only happened once). I don't offer a bad deal. I offer a fair deal. Normally TRUE Invoice + $500-1000. depending on the value of the car. I know they are not going to go broke, and the salesman is going to get a Commission. But I do make them bleed a little. I'm the guy they hate. A well informed consumer who has the $$ to buy the car, but is not gullible to their tactics. I normally end up with the sales manager in the end to close the deal because both the Jr guy and the Veteran salesman can't tire me out. I don't mind staying until closing or later if need be. My wife hates it. She thinks buying a car should take half an hour. My 32 YO son was left in Awe and taking mental notes when I helped him buy his last 2 cars, and my Daughter-in-law will ONLY buy a car with me there.

Unfortunately I was not able to do it this time, since I am stationed overseas, and there is only one broker I can go to to get the car, US Specs, delivered to me here in Spain. But the price is reasonable, and I am getting the car Tax Free. So I'm not gonna complain.

Poor guy is all excited, because he is used to selling X-1's, 2 series, and 4 series to active duty Military, depending on rank and budget. Sometimes a DoD Civilian like me will order a car as well. He is NOT used to a guy walking in and ACTUALLY ordering a fully loaded 540i X Drive. Even at the 10% reduced Military/DoD Civilian price. He said they normally come in all gung ho wanting to order a fully optioned car, then price it out, freeze up when they see the price, and then start cutting out options, and then change to a lower tier or model until they get it down to where they can afford it. I came in and optioned a reasonable car (To me) then started adding options until it ended up fully optioned out, and just signed the papers without blinking. He has never seen that. Keeps asking if any of my friends want to buy the 2024 530i X Drive in the showroom for $63K. I told him once my car is seen driving around base, I am sure someone will come to him wanting one. I do believe mine will be the ONLY 540i X Drive in Spain for awhile, Since they are not sold here in the EU (Only North American Market I believe). So that limits who can buy one here to US Military/DoD Civilian or US Diplomats.

Hahahaha, people like us on the forums are definitely the minority. As emotional as I am about owning and caring for my vehicles, ultimately it’s a financial transaction (for a heavily depreciating asset that is!!) and if you don’t treat it like one or research how it works, you’ll get walked all over like you described. At least now a lot of the back and forth can be done over email. I usually skip the random sales guy and go straight to the (internet) manager and don’t bother going in unless they’ve already committed to a price over email that I’m likely to accept.

So I pressed my sales guy and he gave me the info I wanted to see where everything shook up. I posted the info he sent me, the 999 a month was due to him having my mf at .0021. I asked if he can match another dealers MF at .0018 and he said he would and that would get me down to 965 a month. This is 7500 miles, which is good cuz I probably drive closer to 5k a year. I feel this is better ? But idk I feel like you guys have a lot more experience than me, especially since this will be my second lease ever lol.

Are they passing thru the 7500 EV credit. Doesn’t seem to be, although Insee a credit of 2500 and discount of only 2k

It’s still a horrible deal…
I posted you a link of where your payment could be - if you still want to take 6173 + 965 / month - to each their own… you’ve been led to the water.

It’s laughable. They are given you 2500 off the car - this includes $1000 lease bonus cash that bmw mother ship gives them. So the actual dealer discount is 1500 or just about 2%. The lease broker deal is 8% off + incentives. So there’s still about 4500 better in the broker deal.

If you don’t want to use a broker. Check out Greenwich bmw inventory. If they have something you like - I can get you in touch with an SA there and we will get you a much better deal.

Concur with Matt. Definitely a bad deal. Most Brokers are getting 8-10% off of MSRP.

I’m still waiting for Next Level Brokers to get back to me. I was recommended another broker but I feel I should give next level another couple days.

Thanks, I’ll look into Greenwich BMWs inventory.

Thank you all for pointing me towards next level auto brokers! They were able to get me 9% off MSRP and I placed an order for a new 2025 540 xDrive today. Now the painful waiting game begins lol

Amazing! Happy to hear you went down that route. Dan is awesome. You won’t find an easier transaction or a better price for a custom ordered bmw!
