Aluminum Rhombicile Interior Trim

Hey everyone, first post here. I have been searching for a new vehicle the past few months and have settled on a new 540i. The information you all have shared has been helpful in making my decision.

I found one that seems to have all the options I would like to have in a color I like, but it also has the aluminum trim and is several hundred miles away. I have some concerns about the trim causing glare/reflections based on some limited comments here and on my own viewing of online videos vehicles with the trim. It seems noticeable in the area where the trim transitions to the door handle area. I haven't been able to find a local vehicle with the same trim so I could view it in person to see if it would be an issue for myself.

Not being able to see it in person, I am reluctant to pull the trigger and am looking at ordering one. So for those of you with this trim, how has it been for you?

I thought I could maybe just get the vehicle and if I have issues install some different aftermarket trim covering, but that doesn't seem like an ideal solution. It seems ordering would be best, but wanted your experiences/observations before making a final decision.

I ordered the open pore Grey/Blue for this exact reason. My Mercedes has an aluminum trim on the dashboard and I hate the glare from it in the sun. I avoided the glossy wood trim as well because of this.

Not sure about the Aluminum trim, but I have the gloss black wood trim and have never had it reflect in my eyes to be distracting. What reflects more is the piano black on the center console sometimes. There are after-market skins for the center console but I have not tried them.

If I had to do it over again, I think I'd pick one of the matte trims though. The glossy black wood trim looks really nice when in bright sun because you can see the dark wood grain in it, but if it's not very bright then it just looks black.

I have the aluminum trim. The only glare I notice is from the center console, same as Skyking.

This was my concern as well. I saw several reviews on YouTube where people complained about it blinding them or reflecting into their eyes under certain sun conditions. I went with the open pore choice for this reason. My tester had the gloss wood, and it looked like had lint magnet potential.

It's not a 540i (it's a '24 X3) but I have the rhombicile trim on my car and haven't experienced any glare problems. I'm pleased with it. Very easy to take care of too.

The aluminum rhombicile trim doesn’t have much of a glare. My buddy has it on his M340 and it looks good, has a more satin finish if anything. I can ask him for pics and post it, but I also have aluminum dark mesh trim in my X5 and don’t suffer from any glare. I found these pics on the G30 forum with the rhombicile aluminum trim installed. It may help you decide.

I have it in my i5 and no glare issues with this trim. Once in a while I get a flash of reflection from the crystal iDrive wheel, but it's not a big deal. The crystal controls look so awesome that I actually like that it reminds me how cool they are.

I have it in my 540i and I've never noticed any glare from it.
