For the majority of cases, that's an unwarranted concern. Most people would charge their cars at home, overnight. For those who cover very large distances daily or frequently, the cars charge fast enough for you not having to worry about it. Frequently, it takes longer for you to go to the bathroom and get something to eat and eat it than it takes for the car to recharge. I know it because I've experienced it many times.

As cars move to the 800V architecture, they'll charge even faster than they do today, so you could charge from 10-70% in about 15-20 mins, which is the minimum time you should stop after driving 400+ Kms non-stop anyway. Unfortunately, BMWs are not in this group of cars yet, but they do charge quite fast anyway.

As someone who bought the first iX M60 in Michigan and commutes 100 miles a day as a physician I can say the electrix does what it needs to do. The air suspension is amazing and saving $500 a month on premium gas is huge. Yes I have a L2 48A charger at work and thus I spend about $25-40 a month on electricity at home. We are the first allocation for a new M5 having owned about 10 M cars and currently have a 2024 X5Mc we are seriously considering this. The new M5 may be sportier but with terrible Michigan roads and winter and the weight of the PHEV and $30-40k more in cost the i5 M60 looks even better. Plus wait till the LCI where it gets the new battery the iX is getting going from M60 to M70 will give it 50-70 more miles range and prob 40-60 more hp at the same weight. I drove a 530 M sport as a loaner and what a great car for the money. Not saying the EVs are there yet but as battery tech and weight get better they will close the gap. Look at the Rimac to see what can be done.

Yup - I’ve not charged at a public charger for 5-6months, so wasted more of my time detouring to gas stations with my last ICE car.

We get free charging on our ‘24 iX. So I take the girls to a mall near us. It’s cost me more $ than I expected…

Watch this video, this is why I think the problem you're referring to is or will become non-existent in the near future (given that the charging infrastructure keeps being rolled out and developed in US):

Some good driving EVs are starting to emerge but it'll take a while to reduce their weight.

As for range it totally depends on where you live and where you travel. In my province the charging infrastructure is on point (cheap, numerous fast chargers in convenient places) but I know that in a lot of the US and in other regions the infrastructure is severely lacking. The range of the i5 isn't "catastrophic" at all when you get easy access to fast chargers on your way.
Agree with all you said. That been my thinking of those that hate ev. Infrastructure to charge may not be to par in area or can’t setup at home. If I had that I probably would buy ev but I’m in Southern California chargers everywhere. Plus solar at work and I have setup at house in garage. I travel a lot to Neveda Utah N Cal Arizona without issues just time to charge
