Purchasing BMW Highway Assistant Post Delivery

Just wondering if anyone here has taken delivery of an i5 without the Highway Assistant option from factory and is able to see the option available for purchase from the Connected Store.

I'll be taking delivery of an i5 soon without this option. The hardware might be there for the option, but just disabled via software.

[Update]

I did take delivery of the car and so far no Highway Assistant or Driving Assistant Plus/Pro packages are available to purchase yet on the store.
Still need to test out parking assistant to see if the LED's are at least there on the steering wheel.

I had asked that a couple months ago, as I was going to get an already built vehicle. I never found out for sure, so I did a custom build instead. Since it will be a subscription down the road, I would think that the hardware would already be installed. But, I didn’t want to take the chance as this was a feature my husband really wanted.

Not sure if there is any other hardware/sensors necessary for the highway assistant. It might need the interior camera perhaps for the glancing motion/lane change feature. Since BMW have not announced anything, I wouldn't base any decisions on it being available down the road, and just assume it won't be.

It would surprise me if this was possible, as it seems like there is a lot of additional (and likely costly) hardware required for this system. It would be odd for them to install in every car in the hope people will later purchase the functionality.

This purchase model seems more feasible for things like the anti-dazzle headlights. It’s all there; it’s just decoded because of antiquated US laws and regs that are in the process of being revised to allow it thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. Once that happens, I fully expect an option to purchase enabling that in Connected Drive.

Isn't possible as the steering wheel doesn't have the LED lights to indicate (green/yellow/red) for hands free operation.

One thing you can add post delivery (provided you have at least the premium package) is parking assistant professional

I inspected my steering wheel after seeing this video. I see areas where the led are on it. I just haven’t tried to use it yet. But I’ll report back once I do.

Did you ever find out if it was possible to add this after purchase?

I did. It is not. It's why I made the decision to add it to my order. I originally thought it might be possible but had my broker place an inquiry to BMW AG. he showed me their response that said there is hardware required that is not able to be added later.

I've made a few posts about this. I think ACC Stop and Go will eventually come to the connected drive store since it's clear the car has the hardware to sense vehicles in front of it (530i on Efficient mode can apply MHEV regen when it detects a slower car ahead).

Driving Assistant Professional probably won't be available, but wouldn't rule it out entirely.

My car was unfortunately optioned without ACC stop and go, really wanting that feature to hit the store.

I was originally planning on buying a 24 X5 MC, was really surprised when I found out the hands free Highway Asst pro is NOT an option on the X5 M, yes it is avail on X5 M60 etc.
Was shocked. My advisor said it could not be retrofitted.
