Curious about welcome lights. When you figure out how to customize, would be interested in seeing what the different options are.

Here it is. Although, I cannot tell the difference between the flashing before I changed the speed.

Maybe I’m missing something, but the parking light is not the same thing? When I went to my connected drive store, the option for the welcome light animation wasn’t there. From the screenshot it looked as though it was a way to customize the puddle light that comes on when you get near the car, but perhaps I misunderstood what I was looking at?

No, the parking lights are just the bumper lights. Go to Additional Settings in Exterior Lights.

I found this video showing the welcome light animation. I guess the external lights don't do this normally without the welcome light animation. I set the link to start the video at the 4 minute mark where it shows the animation.

Did this ever resolve, the Activating message? I paid for the Welcome Animation lights...shows trying to Activate for month now. I reached out to BMWUSA genius, they can't resolve. They claim they show "something" on their back end. Had me go thru obvious steps, ie check for updates, reboot idrive. uninstall iOS app. nothing has fixed the nagging Activate message.

I added welcome light animation and it said I needed to try and activate it when I drove next. So today when I got in the car I went to the connected drive store and when to the activation screen again. I couldn't click on anything, but after driving for 10 mins and stopping I went into a store to pick something up. When I came back the welcome light animation was activated. Not sure how that all worked but it did.

I'm on 11/2023 47 for software version on the car.

I don't see the welcome light animation in the store do you need to be on 11/2023 47 firmware my car has not updated yet it was offered the update 30 days ago then disappeared WTF

I have the welcome light projection activated on a G60 5 series. Is anyone else finding that with it selected for one of the projections, when you initially unlock the car, the projection does nothing. But then when you re lock the car and unlock again right away, it does the projection you have selected within the external light settings. Basically, unless I get into the habit of unlocking then locking and unlocking again, which no one would do, the projection does not work.

I didn't notice any special animations when I walked towards my car tonight either. Weird. I'll have to try it again tomorrow.

Mine always flashes at me when I approach the car in the morning. Try changing the pattern, maybe and see if it triggers it?

Yep, I changed the pattern and it worked. However, I didn't notice it later in the day when I went back to the car for a trip later. I'll keep watching and see if there is any pattern or regularity to it.

hey scrapula, can I check in with you what's "parking light"?
also, when we are driving in daylight, does the tail lights come on?

Parking lights are something that existed from several decades ago. It’s a low level light that you could keep on and not drain the battery. It’s useful if you are parked on the side of a road that is not well lit. There isn’t much use for that these days, but they remain.

The taillights are not on during the day unless you have them set to auto. Then they will come on when it rains or gets dusky.

I have the exact same issue.
I contacted BMW ConnectedDrive and everything seems fine with them, they see the option purchased, activated and should work as intended.
After reboot, reset, factory reset,... Nothing worked and asked me to go to the dealer. Surprise surprise, no problems were found and they don't know why the car is behaving like this..

Do you guys have the same problem? If you had, how dit you resolve this?

For me, it took 1-3 days to actually activate in the car.
