Found G60 Tow Hook License Plate Mount + Pics

For those who have to use one. I have to use because Texas says...plus I work on a military installation; it's just not worth the potential hassle with each gate entry.

This thing is a perfect fit. No rubbing on bumper what-so-ever. ZERO sensor interruption as have tested it multiple times. The set up is adjustable in four directions, and still has room to go further left toward passenger side (not that it's needed as sensor works perfectly).

The best part is...it may be very under priced. And no. I'm not affiliated with the seller. https://www.ebay.com/itm/276168786313

Do they actually check your front license plate at the gate? I live near a huge military installation, located in a state that does not require front license plates. Pretty sure they don't look at the front plates, since 90% of the cars don't have front plates.

by the way, does the tow hook plate holder affect the sensitivity of the park distant sensor to its right at all?

Thanks!

I’m in Washington which requires front plates. I just keep mine wedged between my dash and my windshield. No one has bothered me about it. I’m not sure about military though.

Thankfully no issue what-so-ever w the sensor or it'd be 100% no go! And yes. Here, since front plate is required, the gate guards will be all over that! Some anyway, and just not worth any hassle. I'm ok with the look of it as have lived w the two plate thing for 30+ years.

I moved to a no-front-plate state about 15 years ago. The freedom of having a clean front bumper with no screw holes has kept me here. If I ever move to another state, it will also have to be a no-front-plate state. (unless the state in question is Hawaii)

Have never had a front plate on my car in a front plate required state....sorry, but if your local cops actually are worried about this...they aren't actually doing their jobs. It's 2023....go fight some crime. There is plenty around everywhere.

I have always wondered about that. If 37 years ago I picked a career in law enforcement, I could probably pull over at least 50 people during each 8-hour shift. With the way people are driving these day, 100+ tickets per days would be easy. Just this morning, at least two people turned left from the right lane at a red light. Then there was this lady who didn't stop at a 4-way stop intersection, but had the balls to honk at drivers who honked at her. Imagine if I got a nice 10% cut from each ticket written, I would have been a multi-millionaire by age 40.

In the parking lot now and wow... nobody is stopping at the the stop sign entering the street. In a couple of years, I'll probably finally be so old and just sit at my front porch to yell at bad drivers.

Oh... speaking of front license plates. While I love it when there's no front license plate on my cars, it did cause a problem when someone hit me and ran off. The other car also had no front plates, so they managed to escape my dashcam.

Think it’s the same as this one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/23555333629...mis&media=COPY

Do they stop you to verify your ID or something? I remember being a kid of about 11, and going onto March Airforce Base with my Uncle. He was a Colonel, and there was a sticker in the window. I didn't understand why people were saluting his car, lol. He had to explain the whole CoC to me.

I live in VA (supposed to have the front plate) and work on base. I chose not to put mine on. In the 2.5 months I’ve had the car I’ve had no questions at the gate. I’ve seen a few cops on the roads and none have even attempted to pull me over. We will see if I ever do get pulled over.

Is this a US thing? In Japan it seems there's a dedicated spot in the front for this. On US models it has to be off to one side?

In the United States it varies from State to State. Some require a front license plate and others do not. With many manufacturers, the dealer will literally drill holes into the bumper and install a front bracket. This occurs less on higher end cars because the dealer KNOWS people hate it.

Most States that require two ID plates, don't care how you mount it, as long as it's visible. The tow hook mount, at least prevents the necessity of having to damage the bumper.

The Dealer will often make you sign a document in States that require two plates, that says you declined to have it installed.

I did this in California, for three vehicles. I never installed a front plate. I received one "fix it" ticket, when my parking meter ran out in San Francisco. I simply paid the fine and ignored it. It was the only time in 13 years that I ever had an issue.

In Spain they are going to attach my front number plate with 2 sided mounting tape. I am wondering if I might do the same thing with the license plate bracket once I get it to the US. I really don't want to drill holes in my bumper. It's not like the police is going to go around yanking on Plates/Brackets to see if they are screwed in. And if they do I would rather replace the bracket than have holes in my bumper.

It's the same in the US. Just nobody likes to drill holes in their bumper. It would be nice if BMW had pre threaded inserts like the rear. Maybe recessed about 1/8 and then maybe some black inserts if there is no plate. Probably would look pretty clean.

Super late to this thread...the ONLY reason I run a front plate is because I access a military base for work and it isn't worth the hassle. Gate guards have and will continue to challenge it.

I live California front require. But in last 20 years been given 3 ticket for no plate. None of them was the main reason they were added to ticket. Last week a parking meter cop gave me ticket in Santa Monica. I paid the $26 and didn’t even have to get it fixed.
