I share Mike's sentiments 100%. I rarely use the keyfob, except when needed for a routine checkup. I also tend to forget to take it along as the iPhone Digital Key+ simply works for my M60 which I too got December 1st and my G70 which is a year old now.

Backup is the Key card for valet services. But oftentimes, they get confused and will look for a Tesla (yuk!) as that's what they are used to with such keys.

I had a bit of a minor glitch today. After work, I went to my garage and approached the car and it didn't wake up like normal. I put my hand in the door handle, and still nothing. I pressed the lock button on the door handle and nothing. So, I figured I would open the myBMW app and try that, but by the time I got my phone out of my pocket and into my hand, the car recognized it and unlocked like normal - I didn't have to even unlock my phone.

I suspect it may have gone to "sleep" since yesterday I spent a lot of time in the garage working on a rock chip and the car started ignoring my phone after a while and just stayed locked. Maybe it was still ignoring it today. At least it only took about 5-10 seconds for it to work again like normal (and has been working fine afterwards).

Exactly what you described happened to me yesterday when I left the office. Like I said in an earlier post, the main digital key can be glitchy but it seems to be easily resolved.

Very normal. Sometimes once it's gone to sleep and stopped listening it will take 5-10 seconds to fully "wake up" and unlock after touching the door handle.

The my bmw app permission in Android, I had to toggle off Pause app activity if unused. It started working again afterwards

I have the car for 3 months now and from first day i am using phone (iphone 13 pro max). I even left city for a long trip without fob.
On first month i had key card in my wallet but then i even leave that in home.
Never had issue with phone.
And its so good for example it vibrate when lock the car when i leave it and i dont need to carry fob on my jeans pocket. Since i use apple pay for shop in stores so i dont even carry a wallet with me. Just the phone…

I’ve used the key fob once, and that was more incidental than intentional as it was also in the car with me after setting up Digital Key+ at the dealership when it was delivered. I don’t tend to use valet services because I prefer to pick where it’s parked and similar but once or twice I have wished I had the card just to get it cleaned at the hand car wash

I keep the FOB in a faraday bag hidden in the car in case I need it for the valet or if I need to bring the car to a dealer for some reason unexpectedly.
