i5 m60 rear-wheel (integral active) steering
Hey All -
Is rear-wheel steering part of the current set of builds for i5 M60s in the US, or do you have to add the dynamic handling package for that? Looking at the options on my order and I see adaptive suspension professional in there (2VV), but I'm unclear if that includes IAS. Thanks! |

My understanding is that rear wheel steering is standard. The Dynamic handling package has active roll stabilization.

I just read the pdf owners manual that is online in this forum and it appears that the rear wheel steering is only applicable to the xDrive model (the M60).

Will probably only come in the 40 when he gets all-wheel drive in 03/24.

I'm glad to hear this... On the US Configurator, the i5 M60 doesn't list IAS in the standard features list after you make a build, whereas the X5 M60 *does* list that it's there. I'm worried it's only a part of ZDH and got axed for the first cars.
Can you actually see your rear wheels move? |

I honestly haven’t looked too hard, but the turning circle is incredibly tight for such a long wheel base - it’s easily as maneuverable as my old 3 series; I’m having a hard time imagining that it is just front wheel alone.

Thanks Richard... I did just download the manual associated with my VIN
It has 2 sections, Adaptive Suspension Professional (Consisting of Adaptive Suspension and Integral Active Steering) and Adaptive M Suspension Professional (Consisting of Adaptive Suspension, Active Roll Stabilization, and Integral Active Steering) so I do think it's on every i5 m60 as stated earlier. Package names are hard. Thanks for alleviating my paranoia. |

Ha - honestly the package names drive me nuts - “oh, your car came with the auto assist highway driving, suspension extra pro plus, but you really needed the auto assist highway driving, suspension extra pro plus super duper executive option.”

Starting late December 2023, available only on the i5M60 through the dealer and who knows when it will hit the web configurator, the $3600 Dynamic Handling package adds Active Roll Stabilization, which adds an electric motor between the left and right halves of the anti-roll bars (a.k.a. sway bars), that allow the computer to counteract the car side to side roll tendencies when turning, but also allows freer wheel movement when the car stays horizontal but one side of the road has bumps (feature called Active Roll Comfort).
