I probably shouldn't be saying this because my 5-series is supposed to go into production line tomorrow.
M4 or M2? That manual transmission would be nice.

I didn't see that as an option in the configurator. Are those only available on previous years?

I'd probably go for a white CS , if they had one local.

It’s the base m3 that has a manual

I have a G60 540 msport (704 suspension) on 19 inch non-RFT and one thing that immediately stands out is the ride comfort when compared to my previous two G30s on 19 RFTs and with 704. The G60 is exponentially more comfortable, its quieter and eats up road imperfections like they do not exist. Granted the non-RFT Michelin tires contribute.

The seats are unbelievably comfortable too, I had multi-contour nappa leather seats on my prior two G30s and I consider seats in G60 much more comfortable. Finally I sit "in the seat" not "on the seat".

G60 also handles very well. Steering is super precise and fast, albeit lite, but I actually like that more too. The acceleration leaves nothing to be desired. G30 540xi felt fast, this one feels faster.
Did you ever switch your G30 to non runflats? Makes a big difference.

Which seats did you get in the G60? Sport, comfort, veganza or merino leather?

Did you have a tune on either G30 B58? My Dinan tune gives me the same bhp/trq as the G60 B58 so it moves pretty well. Does the mild hybrid help acceleration in the G60?

1. Yes
2. Luxury Seating Package with Veganza.
3. Had no tune on my prior G30s. Don't know\cant tell if mild hybrid does anything to G60 acceleration.

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing more about your experience with the new 540iX since it is most likely my next car in 6-12 months and you drove the G30 prior as I do. Your comments so far are very encouraging.

I finally drove a 530i non-sport yesterday in Oxide Gray with brown veganza interior. The 2-spoke steering wheel was a bit funky but I didn't really notice it after I started driving. The veganza upholstery is remarkably good for faux leather. It was late afternoon so traffic didn't allow much other than back road driving.

Since we also have a G01 X3 xdrive30i non sport I had an idea of what to expect performance-wise with the 530i vehicle weight and power being pretty much the same. It's a comfortable car for point A to B driving, but really wasn't engaging in any way to me. Acceleration and turn-in is adequate but otherwise pretty lackluster. Unfortunately the car really just felt to me like driving a Lexus, and I don't think that's a good thing for a BMW. I didn't try out the climate or seat buttons, or the stereo, or anything else. It was really about the driving first and foremost. All my past BMW's have been M sport or full on M cars so that's my basis of comparison. The CA knows I'm really only interested in the 540i M-sport but they won't have any available for at least another month. OTOH, I also drove a '22 M5 they had and that was a real treat.

If you are used to M cars and hop in a 530i I'm not surprised that you are disappointed. You are comparing completely different cars with completely different markets. The average 530i driver is looking mostly for comfort with a small dash of performance at a "good" price (for a BMW).

However M sport variants are mostly about cosmetics though? I think the suspension is a bit lower and stiffer for those but I don't think you'd find a 530i in M Sport guise that much more engaging.

If you are pleased with your current 540i I'm confident you'll like the new 540i, based on comments I read on this forum.

Yeah obviously the full M car and 530i target very different customers. My point was really about how much the 530i has been created as a luxobarge. And yes, even the 530i and 540i customers are different. But they could have made it more engaging. I drove a 2020 840GC and that was enjoyable to drive, same size and weight as a G60 30i or 40i. In the US the M sport package is a combination of cosmetic, suspension, and transmission software changes. These may be separate options in other markets.

Been looking for 2-3 months to replace my 18 540 M sport. Macan GTS, m850 GC vs G60 540. Just wish the 540 looked. A bit more like the 8
