While checking the BMW.de konfigurator today I noticed a new leather color that allows the luxury/comfort/multi-function option as well…. Taupe Gray with Atlas Gray. Can anyone confirm this is now available? I didn’t see it on the UK configurator so maybe it’s limited rollout so far. While I prefer the Silverstone color to Taupe Gray, I could go with TG to get the ZLS option with Merino. If anyone has actual pictures of this please share.

Nobody here has noticed it yet. I haven't been able to find any current ones from TG leather yet.
You can already see it in the French configurator, always only with comfort seats.

Has anyone heard of upcoming option for an all black Merino interior? The two tone just doesn't do it for me, either on the door card or the seats. Personal preference, but not for me. I remember the 1950s auto seat patterns. No thanks!

I also think the completely black leather is better. Maybe that will come with other improvement measures at the end of the year.

It looks like BMW chose the gray with every leather color so it connects to gray on the upper door cards. Probably a cost cutting move rather than having many different colors/door combinations in the factory. But I also prefer one color for the entire seat, though the tow-tone doesn’t look awful.

That’s what I noticed…always only with comfort seats. Thanks for confirming. I found the taupe color as an option on 7 series and X5 so maybe BMW considers this as only for luxury seats.

BMW needs to get their head out of their ass. If I buying ~ $100k car, I want real leather and not this synthetic shit. The only real leather is this two-tone crap that looks like it was pulled out of a hyundai. Come on. Also this scam of a B&W system is another kick in the nuts.

I specifically bought leather because of the two tone seats. I think the gray with brown looks reallly nice, but I also love real wood and the new homes they are building around me have ‘luxury vinyl flooring’. You should not use luxury and vinyl in the same sentence. It seems most car manufacturers using vegan ‘leather’ are secretive about the material used. If someone is trying to save the planet by not killing cows, they wouldn’t be happy with seats made of hydrocarbon chains, which is likely.

When I test drove the 540iX at the dealer a couple weeks ago, they had Individual Merino leather samples on a display rack. Below is a picture comparing Taupe Gray with others. Left to right is: Caramel, Taupe Gray, Black, Champagne.

It was a somewhat cloudy morning but otherwise plenty of daylight to see the colors. If the starting assumption is that taupe is somewhere between brown and gray, then Taupe Gray is definitely more gray than brown.

Second image is BMW.de configurator showing Silverstone/Atlas Gray (top) vs Taupe Gray/Atlas Gray (bottom). I think the configurator shows it more brown than it actually is.

Edit....BTW, I believe the option code for Taupe Gray/Atlas Gray luxury seats in the G60 is FZCJP.

I had taupe carpet once in my house. It looked grey next to something brown but brownish next to something grey. So, it really could be that brown in the bottom pic.

Also comparing actual photos to the configurator images, the configurator turns out to be pretty accurate.

All I can focus on is the Z8 Alpina in the background. Man...wish we would have kept ours. They are worth so, so much now and it was a blast to drive and such a looker!!!

Those two leather colors with grey looks.. not good. I hope that they will roll out some updates soon for full-color seat options. That just looks cheap.

We bought it new at Stevens Creek BMW and drove it back home to So. Cal.. We negotiated almost a $10k discount (unheard of). We kept it for a few years and then one stupid day traded it for a 911 (great car), but should have kept the Z8 Alpina
