2024 540ix. I'll do my best to describe.

It's pretty unobtrusive in normal driving at a red light or stop sign. However, drive low single digit mph in stop and go traffic and it'll be ready to kick in just as I am coasting to a stop. However, if I then am ready to move again, before I am completely stopped, it feels like the start stop kicked in early and the engine will be very abrupt and clunky on restarting. Not at all the smoothness I have come to expect. I don't think it's the transmission but the programming or something on the auto start stop.

Otherwise, all good. 2,000 miles so far. Rides great. Handles great. Comfortable. Upgraded stereo is very good. Coming from a 2021 540ix, this does feel like a slightly larger car. Moved a tiny bit along the spectrum towards luxury from sport. Exactly what I want.

Same here on my 24 760. Ain’t nothing to do about it. I wish I can disable that awful ASS system.

BMW might fix the problem with software update in the future, but in the interim just drive in Sport Mode I guess.
