So proud of BMW, and they have worked so hard to earn this. Up until say 2010-2012, most (but not all) of our BMWs were kind of a PITA, but the last 8-10 years or so....EVERY BMW we have had, has been utterly amazing.

How very sad for Mercedes-Benz though. What a fall from grace. CR cannot recommend a single model from their lineup

can't say that I'm surprised. (speaking as a former die hard Benz fanboy for well over 43 years)

Before we switched to BMW in the early/mid 2000s, we were Benz ONLY for years and years and years.

By the early 2000s, Mercedes-Benz went to hell in a handbasket and really has never recovered

beside the quality and reliability issues, am I the only one who thinks that most recent Mercedes cars and SUVs are just plain ugly? (again, it pains me to even say this, since I used to be a big Benz fanboy)

I think the S-Class, G-Wagen and maybe the new SL are the ONLY kind of good looking Benzes. The rest to me, are so boring and look like economy cars

my favorite car of all-time was a 1981 Mercedes 500SEL in black. My father(RIP) bought it new. I remember seeing it for the very first time and the interior smell is still burned into my memory as of today. The thing was built like a tank and the doors closed like tanks as well. I was not allowed to help him wash/polish it.(a very wise decision, obviously)

BMWs from that era was not quite up to the Mercedes standard. 40 years later, BMW has reinvented itself wonderfully.

BMW is now what Mercedes used to be and Mercedes is now what BMW used to be

My Uncle had a black with camel leather 560SEC, and it was my fav car. Felt, drove and looked like it was a solid piece of granite.

While we have had tons of Benzes, up until 2018....my two faves were our 300TD wagon and my W124 E320 wagon. The wagon had almost 300,000 miles and was chugging along on the original engine and tranny. Amazing!
