Someone's become a bit chubby, eh? The G30 540i weighed 3,898 lbs. Wonder where the weight gain came from. This isn't a EV or even PHEV, so no monster batteries. Just think how good it would have been to have the new 540's engine in the G30. Could have been an M540i !

My pre LCI G30 540i RWD has been running a Dinan tune for 4 years, good for similar specs to the new B58. Yeah, it works well in this car. My local dealer won’t have a G60 540iX for comparison for at least a couple months as all their allocations are customer orders.

It depends on options. If you get heavy components like a pano roof and option the car up, then it gets heavy fast.

Mid-spec cars without the V8 are pretty light for the segment, and it is quite noticible in the twisties.

The point is G30 540xi was never 3,898lbs as someone mentioned above comparing it to G60 540xi. G30 i6 xDrive was much heavier.

The G30 540i in this AMS test weighed in at 3681 lbs (1670 kgs). X-drive doesn't add 400 lbs.

Looks like BMW of Northern Cyprus still has G30 spec sheet online. 540xi shows 1820kg or 4012lbs (unladen EU weight). So you're right, if we took that optimistic AMS figure you quote, xdrive would not add 400lbs but a "measly" 330lb

The AMS figure is from a car they tested. It isn't optimistic.

If you pork it up with pano roofs, etc., then you can reach all kinds of numbers.
