Looking at the seat choices for the i5 in the US.

Looks like it's it's Multi-Contour (in Veganza or Merino Leather) vs. Black M Alcantara Bucket Seats.

What's the difference between Multi-Contour and Sports seats?

Does Multi-Contour over more adjustments, while Sports seats offer a more wrapped feeling?

I have the Luxury Seating Package so the front seats are heated and ventilated. The controls on the side of the seat are for fore-aft, tilt, recline, and lumbar. In iDrive, there are additional controls for headrest up-down, thigh support, and bolsters. The only manual adjustment is headrest fore-aft. Someone who has Sport seats will have to comment on those.

I thought you could also move the headrest up and down from the controls on the seat. I thought I saw someone in a video review push the rear-most control on the seat directly up and down which moved the headrest up and down. I ordered the same seats as you and would love to know if it works that way for you when you get a chance to check.

Just a note of caution to those who have had multi-contour seats in other BMWs--the seats in the G60 are not those, despite how they are (sometimes, not always) described by BMW in this model. Specifically, the articulation at the top of the seat is not present.

It is one of the main things I really miss from my M550 (plus the exhaust note!) and I frankly think it is a little misleading on BMW's part.

I have the Merino/luxury/multi-contour (but not really) seats. It took me quite some time to find a comfortable position (still not as good as my M550 with true multi-contour). For me, the trick was extending the bottom of the seat that created an overall more comfortable adjustment, something that could only be accomplished through the iDrive adjustments Agorski mentioned.

And, a comment on that: The seat controls are needlessly complicated and confusing. Why are some on the seat (where they belong) and some in iDrive? It's just weird. And more than a few drivers, I suspect, will never figure out the additional iDrive adjustments. Also, the buttons on the seat do less than you'd think they would.

Also, in iDrive, there is a toggle on/toggle off "Comfort Adjustment" that is a mystery for the ages. Doesn't seem to change anything. Not referenced in the manual and BMW themselves have no idea what it does or doesn't do. I just turn it on and imagine myself more comfortable. Can anyone solve that riddle?

You are correct. I missed that one.

I'm not bothered by having some controls in iDrive as once I get the seat "calibrated" I rarely adjust anything.
