why are people so mad when I accidentally posted pic of my radar detector activator?

I even got angry private messages, so I had to turn PM off for now.. ![]() here's that photo... (the black box below that blue arrow) Edit: sold it for $240 this morning because I don't want to deal with it any longer. Last edited by SpaceSilver.X1; 02-02-2024 at 07:17 PM.. |

No idea, never even heard of one. But I don't have a radar detector either (too much of a nervous type for them).

Interesting. I think I might like to buy one and leave it on all the time. Maybe it'll slow down the 1% of speeders coming by my house that have radar detectors. I have nothing against speeding, but 40+ in a residential neighborhood with a 30 limit isn't cool.

Sure , if this is intended to set off other radar detectors, that's fine if someone has nothing else to do. In fact, Acuras and Hondas do it all the time for me with their stock adaptive cruise controls. However, it's a different story if this device interferes with or overwhelms law enforcement detectors (which is pretty much what jammers do).

Neat. Some people don't bother to read, comprehend, and react appropriately.

I love this idea especially in a residential area to slow down speeders. So damn irresponsible to go 15+ over when children and pets are prevalent. Not to mention cars parked on curbs and backing out of driveways! Slow down and save the speeding for the open road.

Interesting, never knew these existed. What is the purpose, put one in your car to make everyone around you slow down/think a cop is around? Do that many people even use radar detectors? I've never owned one so seems like false confidence.
Like another poster said, would be an interesting idea to have outside your house or something to get people to slow down. But again, those people would actually need a radar detector in the first place for this to work. ![]() |

Well, have at it... But it doesn't really do what you think, because the better detectors filter out noise, like this device. Some cars, their transmissions specifically, emit radio signal too and are false signals mostly filtered out. But you "know" when using your detector especially with sound on, where the signal is coming from and learn to ignore BS signals... Like this. Like the Honda's and some Volvo's emitting false signals, you know the sound is moving too slowly, as you approach, meaning it's moving with you. Maybe, just maybe in the opposite direction, but moving it might cause a momentary pause, but that's about it. Most highway patrol won't stop, reverse direction to pursue a speed violation. Most courts would require that the agent not lose sight of the offender. On a side road, two lane, opposite direction with only you and the patrol vehicle being present, is a different story.
I find it funny when some think they are onto something that's not really the case, as here, the belief that this device would somehow have an effect upon those using Detectors. And for the matter, receiving a radar signal, or any radio signal, is not unlawful except in VA and D.C. in the US. But BROADCASTING a signal that may interfere or disrupt signal, even if unintentionally, most certainly is unlawful. Dunning Kruger here in this example (posts above) is real... Lol |

This thing activates other people's radar detectors? If so, you're a clown & no wonder people called you on it

Because a fair section of this forum is old people with a long built-in worldview. Anything that goes against their preconceived perception of how things should operate are "heretics", for lack of a better world.

![]() a few years ago, I went to one of the MBCA gatherings and I was one of the youngest. Almost all the attendees were well over 80. (needless to say, that was the last one I attended... no offense to older folks... it was like when I was 10 and my parents dragged me to a family gathering... I was the only one under 40) ![]() Last edited by SpaceSilver.X1; 02-04-2024 at 06:24 PM.. |
