I've seen both Plus and Professional used to describe the parking functionality on the i5 M60, what's the difference between the two? Also if Pro is a thing, how do you get it? I don't see it as an option on the BMW website build tool.

It adds useful features like remote parking and reverse memory for long back ups. I paid one time activation for $220 instead of the monthly plan.

Professional adds remote control parking options. It also allows automated parking using only parking lines in an empty lot. Plus requires cars parked in adjacent spaces to park automatically. For the i5/5 series I don’t believe professional is included in the driving assistance professional package, but it’s an a la carte add-on via the connected drive store.

Welcome light animations for $50 and the traffic camera app for $25 a year. The lights is a cool gimmick and the traffic camera app is hit and miss where I am at in NY. I just went with the parking professional and the welcome lights animation. The welcome lights are a one time fee also.

Depending on your model and build you may have some of these included already. Once the car gets to the dealer and they connect it to your myBMW account you’ll be able to see exactly what you have and what’s available to add-on. On the 5 series I think welcome light animation and parking assistance professional will be available to add as well as the traffic camera alerting.

To add the parking professional package from the connected drive store you will need to have the car optioned with the professional plus package on the build sheet. All the hardware needed is in the parking plus package.

You need parking assistant plus (there is no professional plus package) to later add parking assistant professional.

I believe on the i5 m60 that's either the exec or premium package as both have parking assistant plus included.

You can go there straight from your MyBMW app - I bought the parking assistant pro pack but haven’t really used it yet - is there anything you really “need”? Not sure. I bought the traffic camera package and it’s alerted to me to precisely zero traffic cameras in two months. I’ve also not used the games at all and see that’s an annual subscription too.

Can I ask, has anyone added parking assistant professional in the US? I just picked up my car and it has the parking assistant plus but the connected drive store doesn't show the parking assistant professional. I asked the dealer during delivery and they said it wasn't available on the 2024 i5 m60.

Yes, here is mine. I am using the trial until the end of March. I have an i5 M60.

Interesting, how was your vehicle equipped?
Mine has driver assistant pro, exec package (which includes the park assist plus), m sport package, heated and ventilated seats.

Do you know if your build sheet had 5DN or 5DW?

I also subscribed to parking assistant professional and had 5DN on my build sheet.

It will take a few days before the option appears in the store. I think you can give it a week or so.

that's interesting you mentioned that because I had the option in my car now it's no long there there to renew

Maybe because people are having issues and they are trying to fix it first? I know Ford pulled the plug on theirs because they couldn’t get it to work well.

I'm assuming it was related to the latest software update, but I noticed Parking Assist Professional was listed as an available option in the ConnectedDrive store whereas previously it was not. Interesting in that I had called the BMW Genius line and they told me it was only available for MY25+ and because I have a '24, that's why it wasn't showing as an option. I was able to do a 3-mo trial and it looks like it'd be $50/year afterwards. I recorded a new path into my garage yesterday, but I'll play with it a bit more to see if I'd use it on a regular basis.

My 2025 540iX came with Parking Assistance Plus. I added Pro indefinitely for $220 after the free trial. I use it all the time. Being someone who has never had problems parallel parking I find it's pretty good, especially for parallel parking. It helps a lot if you are not quite sure if your car will fit or not. The car knows if it will fit. I never have problems straight in or backing into a spot. But I am still getting used to the size of this car. I was used to my little Mercedes CLC 200. And my wife's Range Rover Sport is shorter and narrower than my 5er, and has a higher point of view so I get a better view. except when I use the parking cameras (Almost Always) on my 540.

That said, the car does not always want to self-park in the spot I want it to. I sometimes have to take over manually because it wants to park in a different spot. Lol.
