New Charging Stations
I got a notification on my BMW app. We are getting more charging stations with Shell Recharge. Set it up on your apps and drive safe!

I saw that - I think it’s a way to make the plug-n-charge app more broadly available. I don’t think this changes anything with respect to Electrify America - that’s the only DC fast charge network that will be complimentary as far as I know. I already set up other accounts on ChargePoint and EVGo.

One thing I’ve noticed that’s been really frustrating in the mybmw app is a lot of the charging stations that are recommended are dealer charging stations. Maybe there’s something I have setup wrong on my app.

Make sure you only have dc chargers selected. Most dealers are level 2 ac chargers.

I see, so this isn't part of the EA complimentary program, this just lets you go to one of the other companies' chargers and charge without having to login all the time, but you would still have to pay for that session right?
Thanks for the info! I heard that BMW should be able to use Tesla charging stations sometime in 2025. Anyone else hear that? My buddy has a Ford Mach E and Ford is supposed to be able to use Tesla chargers starting this year, but my buddy said he called Ford and they said that they're still working on it (not available quite yet). |

I had used an EVGo station and did it through the app with Shell Recharge. Looks like a nice expansion to make it easier to charge and pay at other chargers besides EA.

Like most of the other manufacturers, BMW announced that starting in 2025, it is going to make its cars with Tesla's charging standard. However, I don't think there's any official word on how many superchargers Tesla is going to make available to other companies. Also, there's no official word on an adapter for cars built before 2025. Clearly, this is good news. But, I am not counting on anything with Tesla yet. I think the bigger question mark is how many SC's they will open up for other cars. It could be all of them or it could be a fraction. Who knows with them. There's also a lot of money and development on other fast charging solutions out there. My best guess, is that by the end of 2025, charging will not be really an issue for any electric car. |

This is a really helpful if you are traveling and in fact if I didn’t have it I wouldn’t have made it to and from my destination. For example, on my holiday drive from Chicago > KC > Chicago in cold and wet weather the following things occurred:
1) needed more charging applications than just EA 2) needed more charging on long distances 3) needed more charging in rain and cold weather 4) A few EA chargers were not working or available 5) A few new to me chargers provided by say a local energy company where I was a guest would not operate with a card swipe or Apple Pay Here’s my travel story … some pics and don’t mind Zeke peeing on Iowa he’s from there! https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=30760264 |

We are in Seattle and there are quite a few Shell Recharge stations up in Vancouver, BC when we drive up. It’s only 100 mile trip, but we top off before heading back.
