Does the license plate holder take two or four screws?

Can't find anything about this in the user manual.

Can anyone who's already received their car let me know?

Rear plate bracket takes 4 screws, front bracket 2 screws. The car should come with all the hardware needed.

on mine (2024 530i -X), the back license plate bracket itself is secured by two screws.

The standard license plate bracket supplied is plastic with 4 corner holes at affix the plate itself.

front plate: 0 screws (my state's DMV is very stingy and cheap, no front plates)

rear plate: 4 screws

Mine came with two screws for the plate. the screws are tricky - they will easily strip the plastic hole if your angle is off thus making that hole useless. I read elsewhere they are self threading screws for plastic. So try and minimize license plate removals. I managed to make the above mistake (fail).

There are two more holes for the plate on the bottom, but the car did not come with extra screws. My sales associate gave me a couple more at no charge, so I'll put those on the bottom.

Quick update. I checked with the BMW genius line this morning and both the front and rear license plate brackets use four screws.

better use security screws to reduce the chance of license plates getting stolen... I get why people steal cars, but I was amused when I saw someone stealing license plates in New York City a couple of years ago in a parking lot next to B&H. Well, at least the thief had the courtesy of wearing a face mask. I was sitting in my rental car and unboxing the camera that I just picked up from B&H a few minutes earlier.(since I already paid a ridiculous amount to park for a whole hour)

I remember thinking, wow, that guy sure was fast with the screw driver because he took the front and the rear plates off in less than a minute. He was in a dark jumpsuit like the kind auto mechanics wore. I didn't even realize that he was stealing the plates until he got on a bicycle and drove off. The owner of that car came out a few minutes later and I told him what had happened. Not sure what happened after that.

Most of the ones I'm looking at come with highly unique screw heads (star pattern, etc.) in addition to screw caps that are at least a little difficult to remove.

In over 50 years of driving, much of it in NYC, I've never had a license plate stolen.

I have the 4 screws on my rear plate filed down as much as possible using a Dremel. Then I painted them white to make them nearly invisible, matching the plate's white background. (more for a clean look and not anti-theft) The only way to remove them is to take a small visegrip and damage the license plate in the process.(although my state DMV only charged $7 for a replacement, since we only need the rear one here)

(like this... screwhead filed down to the bare minimum and the painted white to match the plate)
