Ive had 4 911's since 2017. All of them I got under MSRP. Including 2 2020 992 S's. Before coming back to BMW.

I had said I wish I had saved all that money and just bought ONE turbo S or GT3 or something more special than just the S or GTS models I had. But looking back now, I am happy I bought so many while money was cheap and pricing was normal. Because pricing is so outrageous now that I don't see my self coming back to Porsche any time soon.

I got my 991.2 GT3 T on 2018 and the dealer is willing to buy my car 50K above the price I bought it. I was also in a market for the 992 TTS but the allocation was months/years behind unless I trade-in my GT3. I don't do ADM so I can wait. ADM is also pushing the previous models of 911 price increase.

A few reasons but the main reason has to do with where the car industry is going towards and Porsche customers see it. With every manufacturer being forced into EVs or Hybrid, cars like these will no longer be how you see them now. 718s being EVs in a two year time frame, 911s being Hybrids at the very least have exaggerated the price of the GT cars due to the nature of Porsche GT cars.

Then you shove COVID, chip shortage on top of all of that. You have the perfect storm of exaggerated pricing. It doesn't help that 718s are having its last hoorah of the GT4, Spyder, 4RS and Spyder RS being the first and last of its kind will push their prices up eventually if the car is in good condition. The current 992 GTs will also probably be the last time the engine will be purely NA, minus the 992 GT2RS (rumors).

Porsche GT cars will always fetch a premium at this point. That won't go away any time soon and you have plenty of things and reasons to blame for that. Prices will vary depending on where you live but do not expect them to ever be at MSRP again, GT cars especially. Unless you are a very, high end dealership VIP that has to keep it quiet (which some do).

Folks, the definitive place to debate Porsche prices is on rennlist.

Porsche prices are what they are because buyers are willing to exchange cash for these cars at the prices sellers are requiring. It's simple stuff.

same reason Rolexes do—hype and people acting like mindless sheep. Objects that are status symbols tend to be like this—purchased impulsively by peeps desperate to rise in status. It’s pretty cringey….

Because there's less and less cars like it.

If you want a high revving NA engine, manual trans, in a car that's reliable enough to actually put miles onto, what else even exists anymore?

Wait till that 10 year warranty expires on 991 GT3s…will see how many flood the market, as people dump due to those engine problems.

Time and time again, we have a perfect car for someone and hear the, "I'll wait for the market to drop." That might make sense for many other vehicles (did I hear G-wagon's), but not 911's and certainly not GT cars. As with anything, there will be corrections here and there, but if there is a 911 that checks the right boxes for you, don't hesitate!
In 2019, I had access to a 991.2 Touring with under 3K miles for $165K in Chalk. It was market price at the time. Although I prefer the wang, I thought to myself, that would be a great car to enjoy at $140K. I'll wait until 2021-2022 to snap one up. Yeah right, f**k me!

Agreed. Picked one up last week.

I'm a little surprised by the continued price rises on 997's, especially manual coupes. They are now nudging 6 figures CDN before taxes for a straight up Carrera S ..... which is quite the number for a non GT car.
