find owner with vin

Is there a way to find owner information with just a VIN number?

Please pm me if possible, I could use your help.

That would be the definition of a privacy issue. Most dealerships are not allowed to pass that information along even if the car is in their or the manufacturer's data base.

Kind of creepy, too!

I understand what you mean. My intention is to attempt to purchase this car - I know the owner was in the process to sell this car to a dealership. The dealership was acting shady, so I wanted to see if I can cut the middle man and go directly. The only information I have is the window sticker.

A couple people on rennlist have done this. Long lost 911s have been re-purchased by owners who had heartaches for their former cars.

I think it relies on a dealer willing to contact an owner to explain that a third party is interested in purchasing the vehicle. Go to rennlist and search in the General forum section.

Reading your post again, you seem to want to cut the dealer out of the deal. That seems like a personal decision on whether the idea falls on the ethics spectrum. If you want the car, do your diligence on it and negotiate the best deal you can.
