Normally I'd say that's a great punishment idea... but after what I experienced I don't know that I'd wish it upon anyone.

I'll bring it up to our league anyway.....

That`s a stupid challenge. I wouldn't consider that person a very good friend if he send me something that made me feel that awful for 24 hours.

It`s one thing when it`s something really spicy hot that burns your mouth for a long period of time, but when you have to spend your time running to the toilet and major abdominal pain, that`s not a joke anymore.

Glad you`re starting to feel better

Glad for you that the torture effects have died down. Your bodily system must have been on DEFCON 1 alert as soon as you crunched that Carolina Reaper coated chip.

Questionable move by a 'friend' to trick you into this physical suffering and anguish by catching you off-guard.

Hear it from the creator of the Carolina Reaper:

See 01:23 to 02:45 to put the situation into perspective:

this thread and story is awesome

When I was around the age of 12 we were running around our neighborhood (this is before iphones) and just doing kid stuff, bikes, football, whatever we were up to. Anyway, we saw some small orange/red peppers growing in someones side yard and decided we'd all try one. They were so hot to us at that age, all I remember is holding a neighbors hose to my mouth to help with the pain. Since then I've always had a high respect for anything with a high heat rating.

Back when we used to eat sandwiches at Firehouse subs, I decided to try a tiny amount of a level 10 hot sauce dipped on one of my salt & vinegar chips and placed into the middle of my sandwich. I was amazed at how regardless of the tiny amount and placing it within the sub sandwich, it still made my stomach do some weird things... and it was very hot .

All that to say, I don't mess around ever with any food that has any kind of extreme warning or reputation - for exactly the reason the OP has stated. Its gonna do some really strange things to your stomach. Depending on your sensitivity level to spice, it could also cause diarrhea and set your stomach on a journey to BRAT diet based foods for a few days. Not sure what is about being in my early 40's but I cannot tolerate very spicy foods like I once could.

Funny you bring up firehouse subs... that was my first similar episode. I had tried one hot sauce labeled 9 and it really wasn't so bad. I then saw one labeled 11, which I thought was bizarre because I thought it was on a scale of 1-10. Anyway since the 9 wasn't so hot I figured 11 would only be slightly hotter.

My day was ruined. I should have read the label on the bottle. Also the fact that it had a toy pistol attached to it should have been a warning sign. The difference back then was I had no kids so I could afford to spend all afternoon/evening in the bathroom.

This was the sauce:

The pistol bottle 😂

Scotch Bonnet based hot sauce is about as hot as I go nowadays. The carribean has some good hot sauces I always enjoy more while there 😂.

But back on topic - Had you not seen any youtube videos of eating that chip before you ate it? Kudos for having the balls to try one - you eat it all?

I had never even heard of this one-chip challenge. I'm not super active on social media... I have an instagram account but haven't posted to it in over a year. Don't have a tik tok, or whatever new thing is popular these days. Most of my current social events awareness come from random instagram reels someone will send me by text.

So I went in blindly. I guess ignorance gives you balls of steel. I ate the entire chip. The initial burn was intense and relentless... but nothing I couldn't handle. It's the after effects, about an hour after I ate it, where it started hitting my stomach and the intense debilitating pain began.
