Can't wait to drive away my bimmer like Robert Redford

Hi all,

I suppose most of us know the movie Spy Game.
I am very close to early retirement from a multi national company.
We all know the issues with corporation nowadays, especially in the eyes of the "old guards".

One mind trick I do is to imagine Robert Redford drove away in his Porsche at the end of that movie. The CIA people still puzzled to his stories.

The difference is I will drive away in my bimmer. So long to everybody I left behind and a big smile in my face.

I worked for the Feds. My last day they took my badge and escorted me to the parking lot. The drive home was quite refreshing! Almost 10 years later I still miss the work, but certainly NOT the politics!

Just saw the movie was on TV a couple of days ago when I was flipping through the channels. Think it was on AMC but I could be wrong.

One of my favorite movies. Retirement is sweet. Go and don't look back.

My Dad got talked into returning part time to help out the new guy. Some punk half Dad's age. That lasted until the new guy tried to tell him he had to work nights.

Yeah, no more shift work, bidding days-off and annual leave 5 months in advance (for the next year).

I survived the "retired controllers death sentence" (the Widowmaker; had 3 co-workers die from that), so I should be good for a few more years.

I was at Summit Point for a Porsche Drivers Ed day, sometime before the movie was released, must have been the summer of 1999 (sold the 911 that fall). The production staff came by the track to look for a matching 911 that was used in the earlier production filming, to use for the opening shot where Robert drives into DC. Not my car, my car was green, I think Robert's was white/silver?

Most of the movie was shot in London, and they closed down streets in London, and drove a left hand drive car through the streets on the wrong side of the road, to fool watchers that it was DC (was that the scene where he was driving in the rain?, been a long time since I watched the movie).
