Time for me to jump into something new and given the front end and relative scarcity, I've decided against the M3. So far I've narrowed things down to the RS5 and the Giulia Quad as I've been able to secure MSRP (or less) on both.

That said, I'm kind of struggling with the decision as both are on aging platforms. Curious what everyone's thoughts are on those two and/or other suggestions within the same realm. I also considered the CT4V BW, but I just don't want to deal with GM as I've been down that road before and I'm not going back.

Given that you were looking at an M3, a Giulia Quad, and a CT4 BW, makes me think the RS5 won't be a good suit for you. The aforementioned are all rwd (or in the xDrive M3 Comp case, more rwd bias than the RS5).

Like Alfisti asked, what are you looking for from a performance sedan? What kind of climate are you driving it in? Are you wanting something for the track? Is it your daily?

I have a Honda Fit as my beater, but would still like whatever I get to have "all-in one" time capability similar to the M. Whatever I get will likely be garaged during the winter regardless. I've been wanting to dabble a bit more on the AWD side of things, which is where my interest in the RS5 came into play.

If you don't need it for winter use, I would get the Giulia. I drive my RS5 all year round so it does more for me as an "all in one" than anything else in the class. It's not the best at any one thing, but is good at everything (and looks good while not being ostentatious...important to me in my line of work).

RS5 i've heard is a bit of boat. its heavy but the trade off is the excellent ride quality and sound deadening. The guilia is great, but i wouldn't go near one due to reliability issues, and apparently a facelift/refresh is coming soon.

What about an RS3 ? Its a bit smaller but you get a unique 5 cylinder motor that sounds cool. And it gets a DCT box instead of the ZF8 auto. we won't get the wagon here but the sedan should be coming this summer.

RS3 would be a no-brainer but it looks like it won't arrive here until late this year at best :/

My pick would be Giulia if you need 4door sedan.

RS5 is a great car, but the Giulia is the closest we'll ever get to a Ferrari sedan and it will only exist for one generation, so the time to get one is now or never pretty much.

Definitely the Giulia. RS Audi once earned a place in my garage but not again.

How long do you plan on keeping the car and what mileage do you anticipate putting? I'd imagine Audi's quality control and reliability metrics are superior on that front. Likely stronger residuals too. More dealership support which are nicer and better staffed.

But in terms of producing a car that driving enthusiasts love, I've always found Audis somewhat tame. Great all rounders, and certainly a very fine car, but the RS5 is less talked about in its segment for a reason.

Alfa's driving dynamics are impeccable, and really second to none in the sedan game. You'll be astounded by the chassis and quickness of the steering every time you drive it. The QV was literally co-developed with Ferrari engineers.

If practicality is a concern, have you considered the X3M? It's basically an M3 X-drive on stilts.

How much do you value reliability and a car you can depend on? Both brands have questionable reliability, more so long term reliability on the Audi. Most every Audi motor repair starts with "Step 1: Remove the motor". The Alfa will never be reliable, new or with age.

If you want perceived quality, a killer interior, comfortable ride, and a rocket from 0-100mph, the RS5 is the choice.

If you want sexy looks, sexy sound, and an engaged driving experience, the Alfa by a mile.

The 2.9 in the RS5 has proven to be a very solid motor. It's used in so many Audi and Porsche applications and almost no issues to speak of, and it's been out for a LONG time now.

Between those two, I'd choose the RS5. I saw an RS5 Sportback in Turbo Blue the other day. It looked really good, great road presence. Don't see them ever.
