Front page 2002 Help
I am trying to create an electronic mailer in front page to send out to my customers; but I seem to be running into a major problem. After I create the document in front page and attempt to email it the document only shows place holders where the graphics are supposed to be. I can get around fairly well but I keep coming up empty.
First, I want you to know that the graphics were created in front page so I have nothing to put into the images folder. Does anyone know what the problem could be? |

looks like you lost you link somewhere along the way. I would make new images using a real editor, so you'll have something to actually put into the img folder, and then link it up the old fashioned way, by hand coding. Front Page has an awful propensity to stick extra code into things, and that unfortunately often ends up screwing things up.

if it is a simple html document, do not do it in frontpage. use Groupmail 5. download it for free from download.com.
i use it to send to 200+ people, no issues. but what i do is complicated. the company newsletter is made in Word. I create two versions. i convert one to pdf, which is easy using CutePDF, the other i use a program called Click2Convert which converts .DOC to .HTML. Then i embed this in Groupmail 5 which i use to send the emails out. its a bit complicated but works well. Again, if you do simple HTML, Groupmail 5 allows you to code directly in their app. which would be one less step. Do you mind coding it in another app. or do you have to code it in Frontpage (which is pretty shitty if you ask me. Macromedia ultradev places less proprietary (read Internet Explorer) code in the html files. |

As tl_boy already said, if what you are attempting to email is an html document, note that html documents do not hold any image files. html files only redirect image sources. With that said, the image has to be stored on an online server.
So, you should follow tl_boy's recommendations of just emailing attachments of .doc or .pdf files if you wish to send emails containing fancy images. Otherwise, edit the <img src="/blah/blah.jpg"> tag in the HTML code to <img src="http://www.youronlinewebsite.com/image.jpg">.

GroupMail 5 will send images as attachments (so you wouldn't need to reference it, it does it for you and then attaches it to the email). When I convert it using Click2Convert, it converts them to small .png files in any case i don't use jpegs or bitmap art work, but use vector art anyway, so file size is smaller.
But storing the images on line, and referencing them as you mentioned would be the best route. I just don't have the time to upload them and do all that. Quote:
