Amazing condition E39 M5
I was at my local dealer last week and they had a e39m5 in the showroom. Very interesting color but looked like it had no miles, couldn't find any paint or body issues and the interior looked brand new. Defining not my color choice in an e39 but definitely must be super rare and looked brand new.

Wow
That e39 really was such a good car even in non m5 guise No wonder it was often called the best car in the world Why can't bmw build them with the attitude they had back then , now( aware technology /safety etc) has moved on but I love the way it was designed and built. Didn't feel like any compromises Very high quality product That is indeed a rare find and suspect is valued very high. |

I had a 530i msport for 10 years. Best car I've ever had and regret trading it in ( had nowhere to keep it)
Whatever version you had , it was put together really well. So high quality And the steering was superb, so much feedback and miles better than what we have today in the g30. I think today's bmw engineers should be forced to drive one before they design another new car and see how it should be done |

Unique M5 for sure.
Is that the one with a few hundred miles on the clock?

I don't know the mileage, but from the condition of the paint and interior from looking thru the windows I would not be surprised it had only a few hundred miles. The interior looked brand new, it still had the new car warning stickers on the center console.

I've had three E39 M5s. Really, fantastic driving cars, as others have noted, exceptional in every way.
However, take that along with the cost of maintaining an older BMW, difficulty in finding parts (or at least, at a reasonable price) especially those unique to the M5 (think VANOS) and the bloom quickly falls off of the rose. And I'll bet you that a new 340i off the lot is quicker in every regard, gets better mileage, has an actual functional navigation system and working bluetooth, pollutes less and although not available with a manual transmission, is a decent "driver's car". That said, given the choice between the two, I'd rather have the M5.
