Rumored Porsche GT1 to be announced this month
https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a3...ent-rumor-gt1/
https://www.motor1.com/news/520330/p...percar-rumors/ Have any of you guys seen this? Heard about this on Spike's podcast. Spike talks about it way more in-depth, these articles that picked up on it don't really cover it all. I think the return of the GT1 would be really cool. Would love to see it actually embody design aspects of the 911, like it did on the first (two) generations of GT1. Very excited nonetheless. I will say, the last round of major manufacturer hypercars(La Ferrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918, etc) never really excited me much. Apparently this month Porsche will announce it, according to some sales person at one of the Los Angeles dealers. Porsche GT1, AMG Project One, Pagani C10(naturally aspirated V12 hybrid with a manual)? Okay, now you have my attention.

Sure it was cool, the technology is very interesting. But around 2017-2018 the "oh, which 4.x liter V8 with twin turbos do YOU have on your super-sports car?" game got pretty old. Besides, not really interested much in "exotics" or supercars or whatever you want to call them in the first place. Most of them are pretty unattainable and the luxury "lifestyle" surrounding them is pretty distasteful and grotesque in a lot of ways. Rare and old German saloon cars are significantly more interesting to me than whichever ridiculous fashion accessory I will start seeing at the valet. I guess I'm talking more about the "entry-level supercars" now, but same point. Not really sure what it was particularly, but the 918, P1, and La Ferrari honestly did nothing for me. The 918 was pretty cool I think with the Le Mans tech, but past that nothing else.

As a huge fan of the WEC I love all the LMP cars. However, they aren't exactly the sexiest race cars every built. Kind of like the 958 and 962 the street examples always left me a little cold.

What I would love to see is a successor to the 959. 911 based, but wider, longer, filled with all the latest tech. If they made a 959 successor instead of a GT1 "hypercar", that would be seriously, seriously cool. Maybe hybrid with the GT2 engine, or even the new GT3 drive-train.
