I'm more curious about next year when the iX, i4 and all the new big grilled models are on the market longer. Then we can see if people like them / don't care about the grill or if the reactions here on the forum are reflected in the sales.

Anyone else heard about EU fining BMW for $442M, roughly about 10% of their profits? Apparently they were colluding with VW to keep their emission level at a certain level. The level was allowed by regulations but they were fined for breaking antitrust laws. Apparently MB snitched on them!
VW paid a little more fine but I think they got off too easy considering their history. |

We shall see were this leads. I still doubt this is a majority of the new models sales. This is probably a lot of sales from former models with all the promotions to get rid of old inventory. We shall see in a year how they have faired.
I did say it before and will again: those who dislike the new looks should vote with their wallet and those who like the new design language should buy it. But what is promising is the gain on the EV side of things. That could be promising for the future but also will depend on if BMW can cut their costs to the level of regular ICE cars. We will see how they will fair in the future.

For the people who proclaim failure and lackluster sales due to the new grills, well you were wrong bigly lol. The masses are buying them like hot bread. Even more reason for BMW to dismiss enthusiast complaints.
Anyhow, I am surprised to see China selling more than double USA allotment. No wonder we don't get the good options anymore, even the Canadians fare better in this regard.

To all the grill haters, although these numbers are NOT driven by the new design queues, you guys can keep waiting on sales to tank. They are not going to tank.
This was same reaction with the Bangle Butt and E60 design queue but BMW kept laughing all the way to the bank. Stupid hate.

BMW has been mainstream since leasing became a viable option. There's nothing exclusive, niche, underground or unobtainable about the brand. Hasn't been that way for decades now.
Unless of course someone lives in some small town in a flyover state. Where a 2 series might turn a head. In SoCal there are more BMW 3 series than there are Civics, Accords, Corollas and Camry's. |

Whilst BMW have been mainstream for a very long time in terms of affordability their new designs are anything but mainstream they are modern, bold and working...
They make the current Audi and Mercedes designs seem very boring and lacklustre.

"To be more precise, the BMW Group sold 1,252,837 cars in the first six months of 2019, an increase of 0.8 percent, as I already mentioned. This is the first time the group sold more than 1.25 million cars in the first half of a year. BMW brand sales have gone up by 1.6 percent so far this year, with 1,075,959 units being sold so far, wearing the BMW roundel on the hood. In June alone, the brand sold 1.4% more cars with a total of 203,523 units added to the delivery list." From a BMW press release. |
