I'm a huge fan and expect the company to do well. I have an R1S on order for late '21/early '22. Very excited. Beautiful design, 750hp/800ft-lb, reasonable price (sub $85k), decent range, and built in the US of A! Thoughts?

I want them to succeed. I like their products and a lot of their ideas/thinking behind it and could see them having great success. The biggest challenge with any of these startups will be dealers/service but being backed by Amazon should do them a big favor.

Rivian design looks good.

I think all the new EV companies will fade to black if EVs really become prime time. Toyota, Honda, Ford and VW will snuff out the newcomers.

If EVs remain, as they are now, cute toys and curiosities, new EV companies will hang around for a while. Have a look at WKHS stock. The jury hasn't shown up in the parking lot yet, let along entered the courtroom.

I just can’t. No thanks. I don’t believe in sacrificing good styling on EV and so far it seems only Audi gets that.

I think the design has been around for so long it's beginning to look a little dated to be honest. Having said that, I like the idea of an electric truck to go with my ICE M's.

To be honest, I'm still not sold on these start ups. In an ideal world, I'll wait for an electric Tundra, I'd even consider PHEV as my commute is not so long.

Personally I am betting this isn't a huge hoax / conspiracy. There are lots of reasons for that, two of the bigger ones being Ford and Amazon.

In my opinion, the pickup truck doesn't make sense. Way too expensive for what it is. The bed dimensions in particular are whack for anyone who is actually going to use it for truck duties, instead of just an external storage compartment. Targeting the outdoorsy/adventure type isn't enough when it costs 80 grand. Those types are often driving 25-30k Subarus or Tacomas.

The SUV makes more sense at that price. I actually much prefer the design over the Model X. But I don't see the truck being successful.

How is that trolling? Are you a Rivian kickstarter contributor or something? They don't have a single production vehicle. That's literal vaporware.

It's trolling because it's false. And it's false because you're not properly informed.

Rivian kickstarter? Because calling BS is only appropriate when it's financially advantageous?

Nah.

"Vaporware - software or hardware that has been advertised but is not yet available to buy, either because it is only a concept or because it is still being written or designed."

It's not "literal vaporware".

Come on now. You didn't know about the vans delivering packages today, you didn't know the factory was about to start producing production vehicles. You just know you can't take home an R1S or R1T yet, and you made a flippant, incorrect comment.

BMW i4 and iX, not vaporware. Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, not vaporware. Tesla Model S Plaid, not vaporware. Hell the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, not vaporware. And Rivian R1T and R1S, also not vaporware.

Lordstown Endurance and Nikola Badger? Yep, those are vaporware.

I'd take a Rivian over the ghastly cybertruck any day.

Well by default, us true car enthusiasts have to despise Tesla, so any competitor or enemy of Tesla is good in my book. Go Rivian!

Unless these guys have a plentiful battery source AND some IP that no one else has...I don't see them making it. F150 electric and hummer come out in 2023 and I would be hard pressed to believe these guys will have the capital to absorb heavy losses YOY until they are profitable. Maybe they got lucky with a bus or delivery vehicle contract but it seems like all the major supply chain guys have their eggs in lots of baskets and will pivot to one eventual winner. Tesla has a very diversified revenue stream and one of the most vertically integrated supply chains. They portfolio of IP is pretty substantial too, especially with battery tech and manufacturing.

Dont get me wrong, would love to see them make it.... unfortunately the cards are stacked against them.

Exactly my thoughts.

I feel some Elon’s BTC comment saltiness in this thread

I like the exterior styling of Rivian. It looks better than the Cybertruck.
