To OP: You probably saw the BMW Performance brake package on the 135i. It is an optional extra.

I took a couple photo of a car equipped with the BMW Performance brakes when I was at a BMW 1 Series event a few weeks ago.

Ahhh...it must have looked like the C|Net review car:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...75&postcount=2

Not sure why the brakes look like that. None of the press cars at the Canadian 1 Series event had brakes like that.

Anyway, 135i is a great performer. 335i provides more luxury and comfort. Each has the merits.
from edmunds themselves,

"Thanks for your question. The 335i didn't offer the Sports package. It featured only these options:

Cold Weather Package ($750), Comfort Access ($500), HD Radio ($350), iPod and USB Adapter ($400), Premium Package ($2,550), Sirius Satellite Radio ($595)

The car was equipped with 17-inch wheels.

FWIW, the 335i ran a .22 behind the 135i on the track without sport package,i dont know about you but that alone is driver variance and having some sticky rubber the the 335i most likely would have whipped the floor of both the m3 and 135i in performance in all areas.

Also, the 335i has bigger rotors, so assuming this the 135i calipers MIGHT not fit the 335i, directly.

I don't get what's so confusing.

From what I've seen, Audi, Porsche and Infiniti (and I guess MB according to FirstClass) all cover their calipers like the 1 series. It looks worlds better.

What's not to understand?

its just wrong in everyway!

the 1 series has nicer looking brakes then the m3 itself...

To piss of 335i owners that think they have the greatest car ever.

135i coupe really comes with M sport package standard. The sport package only includes seats and trim for the most part. The M sport suspenaion is actually standard on the coupe. The 135i vert includes the M suspension and 18" wheels in the sport package. This is how it works.

Also the large brakes are standard on any 135i. They are 6 piston front calipers BTW.

The reason for the Brembos is simple, marketing. The 135i is marketed as a drivers car, a throw back to the old days. Most other brands are using outsourced performance brakes as well and BMW needed to hop on the band wagon. As for people wanting to know why not on the 3, it is simple there is not enough supply for them (Brembo). When the ZHP is released it will receive similar brakes. Also, BMW is using the 135i to market the performance parts gig... watch how many people go buy performance brakes for the 3 b/c the 1 has "better" brakes, last time I checked stopping distance was fairly close between the 2 models.
All in all it is marketing, heck the 1 has "better" brakes than the //M in some people's eyes.
