There are a few threads on this forum about it, prices seem really reasonable and the thing seems to be just perfect with respect to how it was build etc.

This. We wanted the Volvo over the Mercedes, but the local dealership wasn't willing to talk to us, let alone work on a deal. They kept saying "build it online, then come in and I'll review, and make sure there are more options added."

Mercedes went above and beyond to meet our needs and was more than willing to deal.

Volvo are just fucking weird, so goddamn expensive and act like they are doing you a favour and they sell less cars than almost any other nameplate

Have you sat in a 2020 XC60? It's incredibly nice. The attention to detail and materials are top notch.

Also don't judge by MSRP, they're pretty generous with discounts.

Haven't posted on this topic in a little while. Waiting for the Gnesis GV80 to release. That seems to be pretty high up on her list, and price point is decent. The Volvo XC90 is still up there as well. She has eliminated the smaller vehicles thankfully. Haven't been able to get out for test drives yet, time is just flying on buy. She still has a few more months on her lease, but she is approaching her mileage limit quickly.

I wish the Genesis had been available when I bought. Not sure it would have been the choice but I have a feeling it would have been a strong contender.

Bummer is even if she likes it selection might be poor the rest of this year and scarcity driving the price point.

Her last "fun" car is going to be an SUV?

True, and she is quite picky when it comes to the interior color. I'm pretty positive I'll need to get a certain upgraded package to obtain it. Time will tell lol.

Her definition of fun and ours differ quite a bit. I'd rather not put her in something too "fun" regardless because she is not the best driver. But she swears that it is only when I'm in the car..... sure.. lol

She is looking for something relatively sporty because she thinks this will be the last "fun" car she will have before we have kids. With that said, some of the more sporty models we have been looking at are roughly the same size as her CX-5. The CX-5 is decent (besides the transmission), but when we drive to see the in-laws with the dogs and all our luggage it is usually a tight squeeze.

Disclaimer, she is a picky as all hell so the car needs to be aesthetically pleasing. She use to like more mediocre cars, but I've rubbed off on her unfortunately..... Ideally I'd like a payment less then $600/mo, but if we hit $700/mo its not a huge problem. Also if it could haul a boat that would be great, would like to get one within the next few years (dreaming to an extent, but that is what it is haha).

I'd rather her get a larger vehicle as we plan to have kids in a couple of years, this is more pertinent to if we were to buy rather then lease. Planning for the future to an extent where she is more concerned with the present (which I understand). Never been a huge fan of leasing as it's like renting. Nothing to show for it at the end.

Anyways, her choices:
-Porsche Macan (2020 if lease, 2018 if we buy) - I'm a little hesitant on this one, think it's a great looking car, but as far as size it's more of a lateral shift.
-Mercedes GLC 43amg - Ideally, but I think she'd be fine with the 300. (2020 lease, 2017-2018 buy) - Same thing as the porsche in regards to size. Would be pushing the budget
-Jaguar F-Pace (2020 lease, 2018 buy) - Again lateral shift in terms of size.

My choices:
-Chevy Tahoe
-GMC Yukon
-Mercedes GLE
-Mercedes GLS (pushing the budget)
-X5
-Volvo XC90

I'm sure a lot of you will ask, we haven't gone and test drove the vehicles yet. I've been in newer Tahoes, Yukons, and the XC90. As for the others, no experience.

Appreciate any recommendation/experience!

Based of your list and needs - Tahoe or Yukon.

Interesting thread I read it all and was eager to see your final decision is?! Apparently you still in the decision phase, so good luck My concern is the price point and to set the expectations right, none of the vehicles mentioned here can be had for $600 per month
