So do you guys know if this story makes sense, is this some new shady shit dealers are pulling or is this legit and a good deal?

if you are only saving $1k I'd say just buy a brand new car. One owner cars have better trade in value so you are not really saving anything significant.

My guess is either flood or hail damage while in dealer stock. Their insurance paid out on these cars before they were repaired, so they can't be sold as new. Is it worth the headaches to save a measly few hundred bucks? Not to me.....

Ok so just wanted to update this. Basically found out it's for the incentives as someone said. If they are short a car or two to meet the incentive goals they basically sell it to shell company to meet the quota. They have to hold it for 100 some days then they can resale as CPO.

I only had 2 dealers quote me $19k OTD for a new one, first dealer was total shit show, poster child for sleazy car dealer. Actually wanted like $19,800 and I'm sure they would of then tried to fuck her on finance or something else.

Other dealer claimed they had all the colors except the one she wanted for $19k how convenient. So ended up going to see this new/cpo car. Exact color she wanted, car was brand new, still smelled new, still had stickers and stuff inside. Ended up buying that one for $19k OTD.

Now the way the warranty works out its basically she gets 3 year 36k miles or whatever standard new car bumper to bumper is. However her powertrain gets extended by the CPO to like 100k miles/7 years, she also gets the 4 year maintenance.

Lastly the dealer was a pleasure to work with unlike the one we visited before. Everyone was exceptionally nice and nothing was changed on us, even the financing was better than she expected. So all in all happy with the results! Thanks for the advice.

That does sound to be a very good deal. I think the standard power train warranty is 5 years and 60,000 miles. Are you sure it's 4 years on the Toyota Care Maintenance? The information I have is it's 2 years or 25,000 miles.

I'm not, as I saw the same info online. HOWEVER I had 2 dealers tell me it's now 4 years (or 45k miles I THINK). I think it's Toyota Care Plus or Platinum or something like that. Can call Toyota and find out, but honestly either way would not have been a deal breaker so I didn't push on that. For her it's probably 4 oil changes

We get this in the uk, sold as pre-registered and the dealer last do it to meet their sales quota. You get a as-new car but it already has 1 registered owner.

Looked into it more I guess its an addon to ToyotaCare called ToyotaGuard

Seems it might be a southeast specific thing. Basically 2 more oil changes after ToyotaCare and 4 tire rotations, meh. Better than nothing I guess.

I've had a lot of cars only 2 have ever been new (and I totally regretted one of them). However she wanted the 2020 model it's a total redesign. Of the used 2020s in our area she would only save around $1-$2k and have to compromise on colors etc. This was actual the middle ground since it's basically new, but technically CPO so she still saved around $800 compared to an actual new one.

I may actually pick one up myself. Been looking for another car since my gf doesnt like driving the truck or the vette and I don't always want to drive those just to go get something at the store. I like the new accord but even used the ones I like are over $25k. May just pick up one of these corollas and add some self driving with comma ai.
