Bullshit, it really is that simple.

yea, it's by Stacie Orrico. It came out a long time ago though...It goes like this:

"There's gotta be more to life than...."

I forget what comes after that. Pretty catchy song though.

Basically that regardless of how hard I work or how good a product I put out my compensation will not differ. Therefore lack of motivation leads to lack of trying which leads to depression all around...

Well it's hard to comment knowing little about your situation, but sometimes you have to give it time. How long have you been working there? I'm hard pressed to think of any situation where if you put in your best work you won't be rewarded. Maybe not on your next paycheck, but eventually.

I was feeling similarly discouraged about my work and decided I was going to give it a year. For a year, regardless of what happened I would put my full and complete effort into my work. Worst case, I'd learn a whole lot and have many achievements to bring to my next challenge. The year isn't up yet, but it has somehow helped me see the big picture on shitty days/weeks.

Hey, slubu - I would imagine the fruits of your hard work will finally be reaped upon the day of performance reviews. Like findtom said, maybe your labor will not be reflected on your next paycheck but a bonus, merit raise, etc.

The problem is not with the lottery, it's the lottery mentality. I'd probably do the same thing (vocation) I'm doing right now if I hit a number big...only I'd want to go PART TIME. Of course part time in what I do is probably full time to many people, if you consider 40 hrs a week "full time".
