big turbo's lag is actually another world when power comes to stage..

among these i d consider Porsche and Lexus.. which Lexus's engine is great but its pretty old actually.. why dont you consider Corvette?

My Mazda 3 was a truly horrible engine. No offense to the N52, as they're dead reliable and cheap, but there really isn't a single area (aside from the first three generations of HPFP) that the N54 didn't clean that things clock. Of all the things I didn't like about our 135i, the motor wasn't on the list.

I tried to resist this trend too and I'm still fighting the three pedal war. But my GTI is so much better than my Mazda 3, even with its evil turbo. And honestly, with a flash it's even better, aside from the stock clutch clearly fighting a losing battle.

Have you at least driven an F8x? Comparing an N/B motor to an S motor isn't really fair, especially if the N/B isn't flashed. I'll repeat, if you're just basing your lack of interest in turbos in the B58, a car that loses the will to live at 5k rpm, at least try a sportier turbo engine. If it wasn't so hard to flash the B motors, you'd have an easier time there.

I agree there are many aspects of modern cars that are better than those of past, but I am so averse to turbo lag that I am willing to forgoe those other improvements and hold on to non-turbo for now.

I have driven an M4 manual and found the turbo lag even more pronounced in that car...it was very powerful, but the power "wound up"...there's no instantaneous response with turbos and that's what I have always disliked.. for me it creates a disconnect, a loss of feeling of control and response. I wish I wasn't so sensitive to it

I actually don't mind the "running out of breath" aspect of the b58, as I tend not to rev out in my driving style, it's just the lack of crisp instant response that doesn't work for me.

Are you looking for a sports car or a sedan? I have a '13 C2S, amazing car, but hardly a family vehicle. My wife had a '12 base Panamera that was just totaled. I'm getting her a CPO '13 Panamera GTS for $57k, it's a beast with 430 HP and no turbo.

a car with some practicality but also feeds the passion...the panamera gts came to mind but it is just so huge

It is, but it feels like a much smaller car when you drive it, the handling is so good.

Again, size won't be necessarily what you prefer but how about a GS-F? Barely any heavier than the RC-F with a lot more practicality, better looks (imo) and can be had at significant discounts new.
