No disrespect but......

The answer is already in the thread. In fact, it was the post before yours.

I think that would look like this answer 7.1

9-[3/(1/3 & 1)] = 7.1

Not sure but I think that is the old method explained in modern order of operation

On the car thing with the dead guy is it a transport from funeral home?
This is interesting because you are absolutely correct that historically math was done differently than it is today..... but we all can't be math nerds so carry on folks.

Just realized I missed your comment. He was in a convertible but that's a very well thought out response. First time I've heard that.

Nope, PEMDAS is the correct order of operations
Parenthesis
Exponents
Multiplication and Division
Addition and Subtraction

So the 3/(1/3) should be done first and equals 9. Then you're left with 9-9+1 = 1

EDIT: just realized you were trying to answer the second question...you're right
6/2(1+2) = 3(3) = 9
Don't you mean PEDMAS?

Either way is correct. The multiplication and division are considered equal in terms of priority so whichever operation comes first as you move through the equation left to right is the one that should be calculated first. Same concept with addition and subtraction operations as well

Was thinking that as well.....but couldn't find a pen and piece of paper to satisfy my curiosity.
