Threads Deleted

I took the time to respond to two threads this evening only to later find no trace of those threads or my posts. No reason given & no explanations offered.
Neither of these threads were offensive but for some unknown reason both of these threads were disappeared. It's my understanding that the mods only act on a post or thread if it's reported, in which case who amongst us complained? I believe that if someone complains about a post or thread then they should be big enough to explain themselves to the OP & those of us that had contributed to the 'offending' thread.

It's unfortunate but that's what happens here and this is not a new phenomenon. There's a fine line between forum moderation and forum censorship. The powers that be often lean toward the latter. At the end of the day, you have to decide if you're comfortable with the current arrangement.

I think it is finally the time to ban me. I have a project that'll take about 6 months to do and the forum that'll help with that hasn't banned me for 6 days and counting.

I'll check up in the morning if my main time waster agreed with me.

Sometime threads get combined with similar threads, sometimes they are just moved and sometimes threads and / or posts get deleted. It's just for fun. Don't sweat it.

There are posts on here that clearly violate forum rules but don't get censored or the user banned, other times things may be moved, not sure how much things are actually censored on here, though not everything could possibly be read or audited so some stuff gets through thanks to the rather large number of trolls on here.

I had a thread asking about some suspension stuff. Someone replied pushing product from a certain vendor, but it wasn't clear if that user was affiliated with that vendor.

So, I asked. Typed up a reply containing nothing that would be deemed offensive, just asked why they recommended that specific product and vendor and if they had an affiliation with them. Check back later, my reply isn't there.

OK. Odd. Maybe there was a glitch in the Matrix, who knows.

Type up another reply asking the same questions and, what do you know, it posts only to disappear a couple of hours later.

WTF?

Maybe you're mentioning a vendor that was banned. Then they probably simply delete it all.

Yeah it can suck, but this is a free, privately owned forum so they can do whatever they want.

Still doesn't make it right though...yes I understand that one cannot post certain things but if another member complains & gets a thread removed or another member banned then I think the person complaining should be made known.

What difference would it make? Wouldn't it just lead to an online confrontation / dispute? What did you post specifically that you are so upset about getting deleted?

The guy who started both of them is a serial provocateur that has been banned many times.

Leaving his racist shit up for people to debate would be exactly what he wants and would encourage him to keep coming back.

Lol, I invested 5 minutes of my life (I'm getting old now & every minute counts

) replying to a thread posted by Lups, then her thread was deleted before she had a chance to read my response. Lups then pm'd me to ask what I'd posted, so I spent more of my time rewriting my response & Posting it. Then lups starts another thread, I respond and the same thing happens...what are the chances of that? I mean we've only just sorted the great rep point scandal, then this happens

So yes, I'd like to know why things happen on a site that I spend a fair bit of my free time using & if someone gets banned or a thread removed why not a little note from the mods listing the reasons why?

Threads may be deleted for a number of reasons. Those may include, but are not limited to, duplicate or reposted topic, off-topic discussion, content in violation of forum rules, thread starter loses posting privileges, spam, or unauthorized commercial activity.

Moderators may delete threads/posts for a number of reasons, such as seeing a thread/post that falls into the categories listed above, being made aware of such threads/posts by a report from a forum member complaint, or being contacted by private message about a problematic thread or post.
