Cheap Insurance: any down side?
Is there any downside to a cheaper insurance?
It seems like some other less popular insurance companies(non-allstate/farmers, etc) sometimes offer cheaper insurance premium. Im paying way too much for my insurance(farmers) and I was going to try some other insurance companies. any advice?

might help a bit more if you list a few examples of those "cheaper" insurance companies.

How is Mercury Insurance? I have AAA currently and they're quoting me $2,700+ for a full year. Mercury Insurance is only quoting $805/6 months so that's $1,610 for the full year. That's an $1,100 savings. Which is great, but I never heard of anyone using Mercury. Anyone have any input? Thanks in advance.

Seriously, pay a little more and get that piece of mind that when you need them, they actually help you. I had a soldier that went for the cheap insurance company. He completely totalled his car and when he went to see them, they werent there anymore. The office was empty.

yes, you are missing something...
State Farm (31st largest company on the Fortune 500 - $60 billion in yearly revenue) Allstate (61st largest company on the Fortune 500 - $36 billion in yr. revenue) Geico (part of Berkshire Hathaway which is #12 on the Fortune 500 - $11 billion in yr. revenue according to BH's annual report) Yes State Farm and Allstate sell more then just auto but in State Farm's case, auto premiums account for 63% of their premium revenue. A good quarter for State Farm is a good YEAR for Geico. Compared to the big boys, they're a smaller fish in the pond. |
