I've watched these lemmings drive around for an eternity, rather than take one of the endless spots another 50 yards farther from the building. Boggles the mind.

Mine's Hispanic, so I'm not convinced it's the ethnicity that is the issue

Word. I do this all the time. If I see a car parked way out, it means they care about their car and therefore will not smash their door into mine. Buddy system.

Ex: There's a dude here at work with another E90 and I always park passenger door to passenger door with him (one car pulled in, one car pulled through). This allows a smaller space between our cars since neither one of us has to use that side, which leaves a larger space for our driver's side doors and more space so others don't smash into us.

when you say white women astonish me, is that like some euphemism for sex,
like, "that woman astonished me... (she had sex with me)"

otherwise I've got nothing ?

Nah I just find them odd for the most part, not all of them but you know, the latte sipping, pinot drinking, Hunter boot wearing, Q5 driving, reality tv watching, lulu pants, hopeless home ec. type of white woman.

It happens to me all the time too. Pisses me off. If it is another nice car doing the buddy system as someone else mentioned, it's not too bad. BUT when I park over the river and through the hills and find the perfect spot, close to a curb or first spot next to zebra stripes so I can leave as much room as possible why the F does the person parking next to me have to come over the line into my space. How hard is it to park in the middle of the freakin lines.

One is herd mentality. Many people don't want their car to stand out in the parking lot (perhaps out of fear of vandals or thieves). So they park where everyone else parks. Or, if you're the only car in the parking lot way out in the boonies, perhaps people might think that there's a reason that no one is parking close (perhaps restricted or reserved parking or even "that person must know something I don't"). Fact is, by following the lead of someone else, it reduces risk.

Second may be even more benign. Many businesses instruct their employees to park furthest from the entrance (to save the closest spots for the customers). Hence, by parking in a seemingly deserted spot, you're actually parking in the implied "employee parking area", and then employees will just park next to you anyways (see first item above).
I believe it is the heard mentality.

Of course we're prejudice.

Look how empty this parking lot was and is. This lot stays pretty empty all day because this is the back of the building and there's plenty of available parking in the front... but of course, looks like my baby found an admirer, I guess.

:
Happens to me all the time as well. I do notice often it's older women like my mom who don't want to deal with the busier part of the parking lot.

This mainly has to do with the fact that a drivers license is far too easy to get and thinking critically is not a component of this test... nor is it really in the driving portion.

I genuinely have seen where on numerous occassions someone tried to pull into a tight spot in between two cars and literally had to back in and out a few times to fit, where there were free spots literally 20ft away... like I said, critical thinking is devoid these days. This also goes along with people pulling out in front of you, when there is literally no fucking car behind you... so they couldnt have waited an extra 1/4 of a second and pull in as they see fit... like i said, critical thinking.

I get here at work first. I back in the same spot, because there is a void of triangle on the empty side, which gives me the option of moving about a foot over from the adjoining line. Normally this is in my truck, which isn't exactly a beater, but just a truck.

One lady, in her big ass SUV, always seems to match me inch for inch. At first I thought she was just trying to create some extra room herself, until I actually parked within the lines. She was the same distance away that day.

So, IMNSHO, she is using my car's edge as her guide and NOT the painted lines

On a sorta related note, I always find it funny when you show up to work and the parking lot is covered in snow hiding the lines, so everyone just bases their spot off of the first car that parks. Then if it melts by the end of the day, everyone looks like a jackass!
