Thumbs down No Mazdaspeed models coming

I can't be the only Mazdaspeed fan on here. I was hoping for a new Speed6, or at least a Mazdaspeed Miata again, but not going to happen any time soon.

Sad days indeed.

They mustve been delayed so much on the new MazdaSpeed 3 that they just said fuck it. Seems dumb for then since the next gen STI, Golf R and Genesis models will be out by then.

Its a small company with limited resources. They keep saying they are working on a rotary and if true that might be sucking up the resources they have.

Who wants a slow, no torque & unreliable rotary in 2016?

Would love an awd Speed3. They let it die just like Mitsu did for the Evo. Horrible timing too, high horsepower and turbos are selling very well now.

I'd take a well built RX-9 over the Speed series any day.

You can't top that car. Look at the shitty RX-8. I don't have high hopes for the RX-9 or whatever they come out with.

Hell I'd be happy if they just had an engine option on the regular 6 that moved hp up to the 220-240hp range.

If this is any indication, a new RX is coming. I don't think Mazda would have bothered with this if it wasn't doing some major R&D to improve what is the rotary's biggest reliability-related weakness: even cooling.

If it's good ... I may not be in a BMW by this time in 2019.

That said ... I agree with Blksnowflake : Mazda's timing isn't very good regarding the Speed models' deprecation. But the company's got other struggles. Despite all the glowing reviews, the fuel pump recall for Mazda3s last fall really hurt that model's sales, to the point where they're selling well below invoice, on average, in many U.S. markets. A friend just picked up a new 2016 Mazda3 GT for almost $2,500 below invoice last week.

Hopefully a new RX would be nice. They did well with the new looks on the MX5!

Yes it did. IMHO, it makes the Fiat 128 variant look like a kit car some Northern Italian hobbyist threw together in a couple months -- one of the few times a Japanese design trumps an Italian one on the same platform.

Bummer. I always kinda had a thing for the MS6. The MS3 doesn't do anything for me. I don't like unruly FWD cars.

Nevermind what they call it, the Mazda6 needs the new turbocharged SkyActive motor badly. The car looks great, and I'm sure it has great handling too, but its slow with the naturally aspirated engine as the only option. A turbocharged model would be at the top of most any enthusiasts list for a FWD family car.

Every other family sedan offers a ~250hp-300hp motor. Sure, these are a low percentage of overall sales, but for a Mazda offering, you really expect it to be there.
